This is infuriating to me. How can you give up a haul like that and not know who you are going to take? I have no problem with giving up what they gave up if they think they have the "next guy".

They may well know, probably do. Outsiders are drawing inferences based on 2 guys they had in.

I think it's awesome that Jeff Fisher is so driven to finally deliver that super bowl win to the Titans franchise.
The Jeff Fisher effect is awesome period.

Golic has been on record for months that no QB is worthy of a first-round grade. Yet this morning M & M were applauding the trade ("both sides can really turn out very well").

Hilarious when listeners chimed in that Fisher has not won a goddamned thing in years, then Greenie says that's because he has had no QB (Sam Bradford, anyone).

Fisher gets fellated like almost nobody else. He's charming enough in an interview -- and he long ago learned the value of being available to and expansive with the press, especially the four-letter.

It can be assumed that they are hiding who they want to make the draft more dramatic for the NFL. If the first pick is known before the draft it kind of kills the excitement.

Not that it would ever happen, but it's even easier now since the rookie salaries are all slotted that you could have the whole 1st round done before Thursday night.

Say everyone knew the Rams pick, and Rams signed him (nothing stopping it). This would put the Browns on the clock. They could then trade, make their selection/sign guy, or just wait. Say they sign their guy. Now number 3 is on the clock. et al.

It would be hilarious, but NFL would never allow it to happen.

Yeah--they had those guys in before this trade went down. It's possible they were looking at other deals at a spot in the draft where one of those guys may have already been gone and needed to look at both.

And even if not, do you really think it's smart to not at least bring another guy in? What's the cost to the team?

The Rams cannot sign anyone know. NFL put end to that because they want the drama. Not too long ago, some of these guys were signed up or at least agreed to terms before anyone was on the clock.

Ha, this is pretty funny. Here's a 3 year old tweet from Bay Area native and SF Giants fan Jared Goff:

Jeff Fisher is the best. Cuts a guy and goes on a rant about not needing any 7-9 shit or attitude infecting team. Then they show the first day of contact at practice, he is really revved up about special teams drills and pushing competition. But then he says "but you've got other guys that don't play special teams, lineman, quarterbacks and you have to do something with them....so we sent them to yoga"

There has been no shortage of voices citing the lack of practice time and padded practices in particular as one of the reasons for the sloppy NFL play we see every Wednesday. But Fischer sends his guys to yoga instead of practicing. Way to put down that 7-9 attitude.

Jeff Fisher is a piece of shit and in the last 21 years has had 6 winning seasons. He hasn't had a winning season since 2008. He hasn't won a playoff game since 2003. Why does he even have a job? He hasn't even had 8 wins since 2009.

He's perfect for Hard Knocks.

Well at least it's a 100.00 "flat rate"..................

I read somewhere that to honor the original Rams team that made LA home, they will be wearing all whites for home games like that Rams team did.

The only time they'll break out the blue jerseys is on the road in Tampa as they play the Bucs early in the year and Tampa will wear white at home as it will be a mile from the sun hot.

Nice touch to break out the whites to honor that team.

Now shitcan those blue and gold helmets and go old school blue and white.

$100 to park is insane especially for LA. Parking in LA is one of the few things that are cheaper than one might expect. You can usually valet for less than $10 in most of the city. I don't know the area around Memorial Coliseum very well because I've been affiliated neither with USC nor a south-side gang, so maybe parking is tight around there; don't know. It's $12 for the California Science Center which is right next door, but I guess seeing a pre-season Rams game is an order-of-magnitude more parking-cost worthy than seeing the space shuttle Endeavour up close.

I know this has been out there for four days, but this blows my mind:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/10/hard-knocks-spotlights-goff-shows-how-far-he-still-has-to-go/

At one point cameras caught Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams telling Fisher and other Rams staffers that Goff has never huddled — “not in middle school, not in high school” — so it’s understandable that he’s getting used to both the verbiage of the offense and relaying it.
How can you use the #1 pick in the draft on a QB that doesn't know how to run a huddle? That seems insane to me. They would've known this before drafting him, right?

Teams are panicking in their zeal to find a "franchise QB." There's is no way in hell I'd use the #1 pick on someone who needs to be taught how to call plays. Makes me appreciate TB12 even more (if that's possible).

Kenny Britt seems like a first class dumbass.

Great to see Nelson Spruce shine. He was CU's offense for large stretches of games over the past few years.

I didn't want to revive the Deflategate thread.. but the Ginger Hammer put out a tweet to congratulate the LA Rams for getting things together for the first game at the Coliseum. Of course, being an egocentric ass hat, he assumed @rams was the handle for the team. Of course it isn't, it belongs to a guy in India. Ensuing comments on that tweet and Ginger's next two tweets make for great bfast reading. His last three tweets are all goodness.

I don't think Fisher is a very good coach, but I would never have even guessed this in terms of his career:

With his next loss as a head coach, Jeff Fisher moves into third place all time for losses by a head coach, with 157. Right now he is tied for third with Don Shula. He trails only Dan Reeves (165) and Tom Landry (162). So a nine loss season will tie him at the top of the list. He has more career losses than Parcells, Shanahan, Lambeau, Halas, Coughlin, and Noll, all of whom, you know, won something. And he is way ahead of BB (and lengthens his lead each year).

Barring a real change of direction by the Rams, I don't see how he doesn't take the top spot-a bad year gets him there, and a couple of good years keep him around, and he accumulates enough to get there. Unless Coughlin comes back into a real rebuild situation, I don't think anyone coaching now ends up within shouting distance of him.

The absence of any comments here a coup,e days after the Hard Knocks finale speaks volumes about what a dud the show was this year.

Jeff Fisher was unlikeable without a whiff of any charisma. The superstar (Gurley) was barely in the show. The rookie phenom (Goff) showed a little personality in the first episode, but turned vanilla as soon as it was clear he wasn't progressing well. (By the way, Goff's lack of progress at QB, the biggest story of Rams camp, wasn't addressed at all.)

The biggest stars of the show, mermaid fan William Hayes and muscle T fan Eric Kush, were likable enough but not surprising or especially memorable. And the cutdown sequences, normally the series highlight, were all dull. Every player thanked Fisher for the opportunity with rote language pulled from American Idol eliminations and left the room without emotion. Two likeable WRs, Josh McRoberts and Austin Hill, were not all that surprising cuts, along with Kush and a bunch of other guys who had barely been in the series.

There was one good story moment, Fisher convincing a petulant Lamarcus Joyner not to quit when he got frustrated with his playing time. But the sound was muffled there, we didn't see Fisher follow up with the position coaches or his GM, and the story's impact wasn't fully realized.

I felt like the players and staff were heavily coached on what NOT to do in the show by the team's PR and coaching staff. I hate to say it, but it might be for the best if Hard Knocks goes away for a season or two so it can regain its freshness on its return.

Three year extension for Fisher means the all-time loss record is gonna happen. Feel the excitement!

I saw this on Twitter and didn't think it was accurate. But after researching it, apparently it is true.

Jeff Fisher's agent is Marvin Demoff. Marvin Demoff also represents Peter King and a handful of other sports writers. Marvin's son is Kevin Demoff, who is the Executive Vice President of Football Operations & Chief Operating Officer of the Rams.

So Fisher's longtime agent is the dad of the Rams COO and reps major members of the sports media world. Now I'm starting to realize why this bum still has a job (and is getting an extension).

Man, Fisher really is a dink. Telling Eric Dickerson he's not welcome at games so long as he's coaching because he dared criticize the crappy ass team:

I won't shed a tear the second Jeff Fisher is no longer coaching in the NFL.

It's amazing he's still holding on, never mind getting extensions. He's got a .515 winning percentage, the lowest in history for any coach with his tenure. He's also going to either this seasons or next become the coach with the most losses in NFL history.

Just for kicks i looked up his record vs BB:

Fisher: 337 games, 173 wins, 163 losses, 1 tie. 5-6 in playoffs
BB: 347 games, 232 wins, 115 losses, 23-10 in playoffs

Jeff Fisher isn't even a 9-7 coach in his career. He's basically 8-8. Why does he have a job? Then again Sexy Rexy is 60-63 in regular season, so maybe it's just everyone sucks.

That's a 7-9 decision.

Seriously, Fisher is the definition of mediocrity. RIP Todd Gurley. What could have been.

Yes, thank you Rams for making yourselves a non-factor for the next two years in the NFC West. With SF a dumpster fire and Arizona aging and fading, it looks like the Seattle show for the foreseeable future.

Eric Dickerson going off in Fisher's ineptitude and the decision to exend, asking "where are the naked pictures?" on a local Fox affiliate post game...so awesome.

Rams cannot justify not shit canning their coach. LA will turn on them quickly. Just like they turned on the lakers
