    Your second point is great, but I don't think your first point is valid. The bolded is what I have a problem with. "We" is a very small group of people within a larger group known as sports fans. The average sports fan never knew any of this.

      A & B show both the shorter gauge (A) and the longer gauge (B) at the same scale.   C shows the shorter gauge at the same scale but with the ruler shifted into the right place.

      Not only did they shift the gauge by .2, and play with the angle to appear less bent, but the scale for both pictures is off by a lot! There is almost a 15% difference in scale (the smaller needle appearing 15% larger than it is as shot).

      As was nicely laid out upthread, the science/report by AEI doesn't just say the science is unreliable and should be thrown out, but goes as far as to show that there was in fact no deflation of the footballs to begin with.   So take that away and what context could one use for the other two...
