Bad read by Harper but I would haven't have thought he would catch it either. Exciting ending.

Jackie Bradley type play!

Under no circumstances should Harper have gotten doubled off there. You wait just on the other side of 2nd. If gone, it doesn't matter. If caught, you can still make it back to 1st. If it lands in play, you have enough time to make it home.

100% You go as far as you can and can still make it back.

I thought the analyst made a good point. Harper might well have been reading how Harris was going after the ball and thought it would be out of his reach. It's a base running mistake, no doubt; but great plays by Harris and Riley

Great back up job on the throw. Jeter would milk that for years.
The play Correa made last week to cut Bichette down at the plate was a little bit better than Riley on this one.

But both were better than Jeter's flip. And miles better than (but not nearly as fun as) Jeter running face first into the Fenway seats for no reason.

That was a loss that feels like two. Because if you win there, the series is probably over, and now you're going home, but they're the ones with the momentum.
Meh, they have a day off, are going on the road and haven't decided on a Game 3 starter vs Nola.

I really hate this continuing narrative about the teams with the best records being beaten, as if that's bad for baseball. How about the "best" teams sucking it up and winning.

Not to mention the whole, "That's why we have the playoffs" thing. If we wanted the team with the best record to be champions, we would just give it to them after the regular season.

0-8 was an interesting factoid.

Run expectancy matrix on first base, two outs says 12.7 percent chance of scoring at least one run and .224 total runs expected. So, it’s not like the Phillies have a good chance if Harper plays it halfway and gets back to first. Obviously, a small chance of tying the game is better than a zero chance of winning, but from a risk reward standpoint, Harper’s decision wasn’t completely awful.

I'm so glad she has so many outfits to wear on this flight. It seems as though it's going to take forever
