Oh, I'm not missing the post-game interviews tonight. I figured Tito was already getting fined for calling out the umpires by name after last night's game, saying the one was arrogant and as bad as he's seen.

Someone on Bigcat's IG just made an interesting observation. Malachi Moore tries to separate them at first but then quickly backs away after they square up. I had never noticed what umps do in that situation before but he backed clear away from the scrum. It makes sense I guess but it was very noticeable here (or maybe because its 2023 and there are angles for everything).

Every single time that I watch Blake Snell be dominant, the announcers spend the entire first 5-6 innings bitching about how dumb it was for TB to take him out in the WS when they did, and seemingly every single time he loses it on the third time around the lineup, within a batter or two each way of batter 19, you could set your watch by it. For years now!!
And again, very good through 18 batters, batter #19 (Mookie) doubles and batter #20 (Freeman) singles him in.

There is a lot to like about the Padres Steven Wilson. The guy just throws strikes and hitters can't seem to get barrel on his stuff.

Tito didn't really fill in the gaps much but said Anderson had been yelling at Gabriel Arias during the game (no reason given). Jose didn't appreciate him hovering over him. Tito also said his own involvement was reacting badly to Grifol yelling at him, but that Grifol was ejected during the melee and Tito wasn't ejected until the umpires came over to talk to him (not sure of the accuracy of that, it looked like they ejected him earlier), but he literally said: "I think I was ejected because of last night".

EDIT: Grifol said he wasn't going to talk about it.

Still don't know what any of the yelling at Arias was about, but Jose pretty much confirmed that Anderson getting away with illegally pushing Brayan Rocchio's hand off the base last night was fuel to the fire. Rocchio's only been up for a few days and Arias is a rookie, if Anderson wants to pick a fight with them, he's going to have to go through Jose. He felt the tag at second was hard and Anderson hovered, so he said something and then Anderson challenged him to fight. Jose finished it.

Josh Naylor is out with an oblique strain, but was still out on the field – looked like he was mostly pulling guys back – but I have a feeling if was healthy and in the game, he would have flattened a White Sox player or two, considering he's been jawing with the White Sox and their fans for a couple of years and is one of the guys who really takes the rookies under his wing.

Dodgers melting down in the eighth. Pitchers grooving things and Kike throwing balls into dugouts. Its bedlam!

6 miles from Angel Stadium
Angels with some bad luck. Scored a run on a ground rule double, the tying run would have scored easily if the ball doesn't leave the yard on a bounce. Seattle wins again. Hunter Renfroe leaves them loaded.

And the Angels ... well, it won't be long until they have nightmares about what they could have gotten for Ohtani
Barring a miracle turnaround, not a single postseason game in his Angels career. They should be too embarrassed to even bid on him.

Poor Frazier. If he gets off the stool in the 15th in Manila history probably remembers him very differently. Now he’s forever tied to the greatest knock out call in history.

Some fancy town in CT
Astros tried everything to lose the game including walking the garbage at the bottom of the MFY lineup over and over again.

Mariners sweep the Angels in a 4 game series in LA, they’re going to regret not trading Ohtani for decades.

Mariners with a 4 game sweep of the Angels. Absolutely awesome performance from Taylor Saucedo to close it out in extras after pitching the 9th, with the rest of the bullpen unavailable.

Meanwhile, Paul Sewald, who the Mariners just traded, comes in with a 1 run lead for Arizona in the 9th, and promptly lets up 2 home runs to blow the game against Minnesota.

I didn't see so much of that game but I did see that #1 error to IKF, easily in the zone and could have cost HOU the game.

The Padres scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd.

LA just scored 8 in the top of the 4th, capped off by a grand slam by some guy named Mookie Betts.

Gavin Williams' curve looks great so far tonight. He's struck out five Jays – all swinging – through the first two innings.

No storms in Cleveland, but there's a wind blowing in from left field to first base that's caused a couple of routine fly balls against Williams to become highlight-reel catches. Ryu was baffling Cleveland hitters throwing mid-70s curves that made his 90 mph fastball look like serious heat and just moving the ball all around... but he deflected two hard-hit balls right back to the mound and the last one off his leg knocked him out after only 4 innings (it's going to hurt for a day or two, but should be fine). This has been a real pitching duel with 2 total hits through six innings.

There
Estevez has picked the wrong time to start blowing saves. Angels were up 3-2 headed to the 9th, now down 6-3 with one out.

Estevez went 0.1 IP, 2 BB, 3 H, 4 ER, and has now been replaced by Loup. GJGE on being buyers at the deadline, Angels.

The Angels are flushing their season down the toilet in spectacular fashion. They just imploded in the top of the 9th and trail 6-3. Still not out of the inning either. Grichuk made a bad decision to try and dive for a ball in left and the floodgates opened.
