Only took on a little bit of money with the Urias deal, so the Sox won't end up paying any in luxury tax, right?
Guessing you wanted Paxton declared legally dead back in March?Sale is broken waiting to happen. Whitlock was only great when he was handled with kid gloves in his first year with the Sox. Feel free to continue to defend Bloom, but counting on guys that haven't been there all year, can't stay on the field, or get lit the third time through the order isn't having a bunch of all stars coming to save the day.
I, also am bored.Right. But that never stops the “just do something” crowd from screaming because they are bored.
11 games at 2B this year. Last year, he had 46 games played at 2B, 24 at SS, and 73 at 3B.Passan says we're getting Urias from MIL
And Raffy's errorSeriously? Llovera pitched two shutout innings on Saturday. He was out there again on Sunday simply because there was no one else available. Leaving a ton of men on base was the bigger cause for that loss, yes?
Right. They will stay under the threshold this year.Only took on a little bit of money with the Urias deal, so the Sox won't end up paying any in luxury tax, right?
I wonder if he has that on a Save/Get keyBloom: "We're very confident we'll continue building on this next year and beyond."
Seems like solid reasoning to me.
Perhaps he is alluding to laying the groundwork for something that can be revisited after the season here.
We could have written these quotes 2 days ago. Oh well, we’ll just have to see. I, for one, will plan for my Chase Meidroth bobble head day in 2026.
My sentiments exactly. Why is the big question.AMAZING!!!! Oh wait.. who?
It’s a pretty easy “big” question to answerMy sentiments exactly. Why is the big question.
Our middle infield depth is shit.My sentiments exactly. Why is the big question.
I couldn't imagine they offered either of those things for a Snell rental.
Have to believe this. If it doesn’t come true - yuck.I have to believe part of keeping Paxton is with an eye to an extension.
Well if he gets a QO then there’s something coming back regardless. But I think they like the guy and he likes his situation?Have to believe this. If it doesn’t come true - yuck.
I’d probably wait to see how he finishes the season. Pretty mediocre July. What are we looking at, 3/50 or so?Have to believe this. If it doesn’t come true - yuck.
Well it’s true so they should look in the mirror and stop running into dumb outs.Bloom just doesn't seem to be sending the most positive message... "Not in playoff spot"... "we're not there right now..." just not sure the locker room will want to hear..
So it’s NOT a factor?
They're on the roster, what do you propose that Bloom should do with them?Sale is broken waiting to happen. Whitlock was only great when he was handled with kid gloves in his first year with the Sox. Feel free to continue to defend Bloom, but counting on guys that haven't been there all year, can't stay on the field, or get lit the third time through the order isn't having a bunch of all stars coming to save the day.
Yup. Sox aside, trade deadlines have been pretty interesting since then.Man, the extra playoff spots have changed so much. In 2004 this team would be 7.5 games back and automatic sellers.
That is certainly an odd quote
I don't understand what's unreal about it. It's absolutely true.
Can you just scroll up? Or read one of a dozen other threads?Remind me again what the plan is?
They need to run one team down?I don't understand what's unreal about it. It's absolutely true.
Stay the course until The Great Awakening.Remind me again what the plan is?
Just do something in the abstract? Regardless of cost? If you see rumors that they couldn’t get Ian Snell for two premium prospe… no, seriously, do your own research.I just don’t understand standing pat. They should be selling likely, but if not, do something to add to the team. Can’t say I have been a huge fan of the Bloom era to date.
But it’s 2 games in the loss column and it’s August 1st already! They need to run one team down?
A Paxton trade to a contender that sent some high level minor league talent would have to involved a third team that is out of contention. We would have sent those prospects or similar level prospects to that team for a bona fide starting pitcher to replace Paxton, perhaps with another year or two of control.it’s been reported by numerous sources (Ken Rosenthal being one) that the Sox could have got a premium return for Paxton.
Chaim chose to keep him. I’m not arguing whether that’s right or wrong but they could have got a large return for Paxton (my guess is that it would have been incredibly similar to Verlander)
Exact quote from Rosenthal “ "The big question revolves around James Paxton, they could get a premium package in return, but the Red Sox would need to replace him somehow."
Making deals to try to get the last wild card would be malpractice. They need to run one team down?
lol miracle. And what if they don't? Counting on a miracle where guys come back from significant injuries and are in top form is a losing bet.
So you just do nothing of substance? Makes no sense.I don't understand what's unreal about it. It's absolutely true.
So does that count as "buying" or "selling "?Sox get Luis Urias!
But not selling guys like Duvall and Paxton is smart?Making deals to try to get the last wild card would be malpractice.
I don't understand why this is difficult to understand. So you just do nothing of substance? Makes no sense.
