He hurt it in the NFC Championship Game. So it's new, probably played two weeks ago on adrenaline and it also probably got worse as he continued to play, leading to the fracture.
Plus their opponents didn't know what it was.Yup, he hurt it sometime during the game. Hard to know much to read into his immediate performance. It could mean it was relatively minor. He could have been just so jacked up on adrenaline that it was easier to play through. I'm not a doctor but I can see a wide range of possibilities today, from Mack being nearly normal to barely able to get on the field.
Is there some concern the Patriots are unaware of the situation? How can he not be on injury report? Something is amiss here
I wonder if injury is real.Is there some concern the Patriots are unaware of the situation?
I think the injury report is as much or more for the fans and the media (read:Las Vegas) as it is for the opponent. So we were spared the chance to hear nonsense from idiots about his fibula for two weeks; the Falcons should get an extra sixth round pick or something. Is there some concern the Patriots are unaware of the situation?
There's an injury/practice report and a game status report. Significant injuries must be disclosed even if he's certain to play.Stupid question: does he have to be listed if he's not "questionable"? Meaning, if he's absolutely dressing either way, is this a violation?

Ima just keep adding until one works...
This is a "play through the pain" kind of injury, isn't it? As in, there's shouldn't be any long term damage, and the break shouldn't get "significantly" worse by playing on it. Am I way off base with that?Sounds like a non-displaced non-operative fibula fracture to me - they'll shoot him up and wrap the shit out of it but hard to say how effective he'll be or if he'll last.
Different from the Gronk scenario in that Gronk was basically a decoy- there's no such thing as a decoy center
You are correct. Like myself, you do not get $10This is a "play through the pain" kind of injury, isn't it? As in, there's shouldn't be any long term damage, and the break shouldn't get "significantly" worse by playing on it. Am I way off base with that?
Well, is it play through the pain, or play slowly, stiffly and weakly through the pain? This is a "play through the pain" kind of injury, isn't it? As in, there's shouldn't be any long term damage, and the break shouldn't get "significantly" worse by playing on it. Am I way off base with that?
Assume it is all fog of war propaganda to throw the Pats off.Rap just reported Jones is playing a sprained ankle and toe that may require surgery after the game.
This is all lining up a little too nicely.
Cyrus Jones?Rap just reported Jones is playing a sprained ankle and toe that may require surgery after the game.

The problem with this argument is the assumption that enough people in Georgia give that many shits about the Atlanta Falcons. If the Georgia Bulldogs were playing in the Super Bowl then you would be correct. But the Georgia Bulldogs are not playing in the Super Bowl. It's the Atlanta Falcons. As such, most Georgians are just along for the ride and are happy to be a part of it.
Tweets yesterday said the lack of roster move by Patriots mean they are confident he'll suit up.Any word on the Valentine injury? He seems like the questionable player least likely to be active
Well it was important to clarify because the Falcons are hurt more by a Cyrus injury than a Julio one. He's being sarcastic.

Can Team Fluff find a way to keep this game close? Ruff is installed as a 25 point favorite.
Lineup is stacked. Team Ruff 78-36.
How often do centers pull out to block anyway (vs. guards)? Like you said, he has to worry about the biggest guy on the defense lined up in front of him on lots of plays, plus the center loses a split second because he has to snap the ball.Wow - 79/80 Dead and Bim Skala Bim in the same thread...
Hard for Mack to pull if Brown/Branch are knocking him off his one good pin every snap. Here's hoping that A gap pressure is constant and effective
Do it up, Red. You bring a lot to this forum -- this is your day.Made it to Boston. Love going into stores with people in Pats gear and high fives flying. Love this town. Time to have a cocktail.
It's less about specifically pulling and more about Atlanta using stretch plays with zone blocking techniques. There will be times that Mack is ask to move laterally, get to the second level and pick off a linebacker. You need an athletic center to do that well. If he can't do that then the RB won't have the cut back lanes that are needed to make the stretch play work. How often do centers pull out to block anyway (vs. guards)? I'd be shocked if both teams didn't have an intern stand watch at each and every fire alarm in the team hotels. So, no fire alarms last night?
But they're Moe's favorite team!Simpsons apparently had an episode where Pats beat the Falcons 31-23. Feeling good about my bets now.
Good point. He does have to move some yards to be his most effective. Articles at Yahoo Sports and Bleacher Report saying Mack is adamant about playing. It's less about specifically pulling and more about Atlanta using stretch plays with zone blocking techniques. Best part of that is the Hillary jabBut they're Moe's favorite team!
That's all we need. The league thinking the Patriots weren't punished severely enough...again.ESPN is spinning the DFG suspension as a blessing in disguise for the Pats because Brady got 4 games off to rest and be healthy for the SB. Didn't mention how losing a first round pick would be an advantage.
He's one of the baddest men on the planet.Well, is it play through the pain, or play slowly, stiffly and weakly through the pain?
That is really the question.
Assuming you're being serious, he is a huge part of Atlanta's "second level" blocking scheme. How often do centers pull out to block anyway (vs. guards)? Like you said, he has to worry about the biggest guy on the defense lined up in front of him on lots of plays, plus the center loses a split second because he has to snap the ball.
Fucking cheaters--probably set the whole thing up just to get an extra roster spot for four weeks.ESPN is spinning the DFG suspension as a blessing in disguise for the Pats because Brady got 4 games off to rest and be healthy for the SB. That sounds great! I was a fan of Bim Skala Bim (and the Dead) when I lived in Boston, and of the Hopping Penguins when I moved north of the border.First concert I ever saw = Bim Skala Bim, L7, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Tree. Good times.
