I don't think they are a particularly good fit unless you take prospects and have a second team lined up to flip them for what you need/want. I don't think there are many good fits, given what he provides and what the Sox would want, but that's another conversation I guess.

I wonder if you could add something to Cespedes that fills a need in Seattle and try to net James Paxton while his value is lower from injuries.  Or perhaps take a flyer on Danny Hultzen who will supposedly be ready for spring training (recovering from rotator cuff surgery missed all of 2014 and a lot of 2013, former #2 pick). The Mariners have plenty of pitching, but their outfield is terrible - Michael Saunders was their best player last year.

They'd be distinguished from the Webster/Ranaudo crop in that they actually have serious upside.

why would a team looking to add offense trade one of their best offensive players? and even if their top prospect doesnt have to move to 1B, why would they just give him the 3B spot? he has played 58 games in AA, i dont see a team looking for a playoff spot trading a cost controlled all star so a 22 year old kid with questionable defensive abilities can take his spot in the majors. If he can somehow make that leap, they have a decent 1B to match up with their 3B and then many of their offensive problems are solved. I think they actually have a pretty decent window if their pitching prospects mature. Cano is on that team for another 9 years and Seager is just entering arb, they have some competitive years left

Why would his stock be lowered due to injury? he came back from injury and pitched really well for the last two months and could be a really good pitcher for them next year, i think they know that. He isnt a FA until 2020, that rotation with Felix, Walker, and Paxton until 2020 could easily be elite(it could be elite next year), i really dont think they have some rapidly closing window, and I dont think they are going to start mortgaging their future to trade for Cespedes.

edit: next year zunino could easily improve(he is younger than vazquez and a pretty good defensive catcher who hit better than vazquez in the minors) as could miller. if they really think Peterson could contribute next year, they throw him at 1B, Morrison in LF and they have an OF of Morrison/Jackson/Saunders and a really good pitching rotation. I dont think they will be interested in a year of Cespedes

The Tigers are not a team that would looking at Cespedes.  Instead I would imagine they would be more interested in JBJ.
I think Porcello is actually a good bet to be a solid middle of the rotation starter (a la Lackey) and the Tigers, with Miggy, Verlander, and Sanchez under contract and Price on deck might be interested in replacing Porcello with some cheaper arms (and I think you're right about Bradley having some interest for them). So I definitely agree there's a fit there.

For 3 games in his career in the majors and 7 games in the minors.

They could sign Aoki to a 2 year deal for what it will cost them for one year of Cespedes, without having to expend trade assets. The Royals are very likely not a partner.

I agree 100% that the Royals won't move Gordon to RF. He's the best defensive LF in The Show, and since he came up as a 3B he has no real experience in CF or RF. They aren't going to mess with the good thing they have going there.

If they can put Cespedes in RF, however, I wouldn't dismiss them out of hand as a trading partner. Aoki is almost certainly not coming back; he simply isn't very good, and RF is perhaps the only position on the diamond where the Royals aren't committed either to a long-term deal or a young player with upside. They need to add offense, and RF is the most logical place to do it.

A lot of people think the Royals will trade one of their elite bullpen arms, which would be a good fit, and I wouldn't be shocked if Moustakas was available in the right deal. None of those deals work even-up (we would want something besides a reliever for Cespedes, and they would want something besides Cespedes for Moustakas), but there's enough there to fuel a discussion -- again, assuming the Royals feel they can plug Cespedes in RF.

For what though? They're not getting Porcello for him (nor do I see the Tigers moving him at all considering they will probably lose Scherzer) and they have probably a bottom five system at this point.

I don't think they can carry Iglesias and JBJ anymore than the Sox could carry him and Vasquez, unless they resign Martinez and replace Hunter's production. And even then it's borderline.

You would need to include a couple of the young, cost controlled arms. They're likely losing Scherzer, but they also need to extend Price. So they need savings somewhere, and Porcello seems one of the more obvious choices as he's their 4/5 guy.
