Apologies if this is not the right place for this, but I wasn't sure the right people would see it if I put it in the ticket swap forum.
My son is a big Manchester United fan, and he's taking a trip to Spain and England in April with a couple of friends. They want to go see the Man U at Tottenham Hotspur game on April 20th.
What is the best way to go about getting tickets? Obviously he can just to go to the Man U or Tottenham websites, but are there any other reliable options he should check out?

There was an a thread going for La Liga games too somewhere. The general advice, regardless of country, is to buy them directly from the home team’s website because you know they’re legit and often times they have access to tickets that become available late. The risk with tickets sites like Stubhub is often they have not purchased the tickets yet (because they’re not yet on sale) so you end up with tickets in a different location or they get cancelled on you. I can’t speak for England but in Spain the tickets usually go on sale the Monday before the game so any ticket you purchase beforehand won’t be guaranteed.

In your case I’d recommend going to the Spurs website. Tottenham will have a certain amount reserved for Man U which of course they will sell too, but often to their supporters, ultras etc. I would guess that they would get the full away team treatment including separate entrance, seating, and insults (this with the caveat that I haven’t been to a Prem game in like ten or fifteen years so practices might be different today’s gentler soccer fan world).

A couple of things that are unlike American sports:

Tickets only get released 6- weeks prior to game time. Might not be able to buy tix for an April game yet(except from a season ticket holder on Stubhub or the like).

Games can be moved for TV very close to game time, snd significantly, like from a Saturday to a Monday inly 1-2 weeks out. Very hard for travelers.

As per above, away fanshave their own section. Outright violence is rare these days but there are heavy police presences, things thrown, etc- it’s more hostile than American crowds are used to- don’t sit in the away section unless you want to have that low-level concern throughout. If you’renot a fan of the away side the restrictions on movement around the stadium an other aggravations aren’t worth it.

I read an article in The Athletic recently that many stadiums don't allow you to wear the away team gear in the non-away team section too.

I saw a guy cheer a Man City goal at Selhurst Park, and there was a near-riot. Stewards got that guy out quick.

Yeah, I wore a Revolution Jersey to USA vs England at New Wembley in my younger days in the away section, luckily the worst that happened was a beer thrown at me and friend as we headed up the road toward the stadium. Make sure he understands not to be a dumb young kid like I was.

Haha or for a more recent example, my trip to Diego Maradona Stadium in November haha. Maybe not my smartest decision of all time either.

Anybody have any advice for getting England national team tickets? We are going to be in London during the international break (grrrr...) this March, so Arsenal matches are out. But England is playing Brazil at Wembley on March 23rd in a friendly, which would be awesome (never been to Wembley). The issue is that its sold out, there are a million ticket reselling sites, but the reviews for most of them talk about scams.

There must be a reliable way to purchase two tickets for this match but I can't seem to find it.

Have you got a hotel already? I’ve gotten EPL tickets through a hotel concierge. I’d imagine they could do that for that game too, if money is no object :)

Send me an email if you’d like me to help!

I saw the national team play in Wembley in a Euro qualifier back in 2015, but tickets were readily available on the ENT site.

We're staying at an AirBnB so I don't think this route is open unfortunately.

They have a staggered ticketing system where first its available to certain England supporter groups and only afterward to the general public. This match sold out pretty quickly and before I was ready to commit. There is another match between England and Belgium (not quite as attractive, but still good) that goes on sale to the public on February 7th so I could try that. But the ideal thing would be to find a reliable ticket reseller for England-Brazil.

Its amazing when you just google for ticket resellers, the initial hits very much look like legitimate sites, and then you dig deeper and find review sites like this one. Not exactly confidence inducing.

you can use hotel concierges even if you’re not staying there. Not everyone knows that, but it’s true.

It’s just important a) to tell them that you’re not a guest at the hotel up front and b) tip them well for the service.

Let me know if I can help at all!

Yeah I only saw them against lowly Lithuania.

But fun fact, it was Harry Kane's first cap, and he scored within about a minute of stepping on the pitch.
