So... The guy gets checked as he's coming in... but goal doesn't count for goalie interference

I can’t believe no major there

in this day and age that’s gotta be a major every time

They dropped that to a fucking minor?? Are you serious? He changed direction a full second after the puck was away, left his feet and made contact with the head. WTF am I missing here?

Wild West tonight. Going to double OT in Dallas, Kings rallied from down 3-1 to force OT in Edmonton.

You think the Edmonton fans and players are wound a little tight? Throwing crap on the ice, losing their cool after the call and goal.
I think five of the last six PPs including one with 1:50 to go in the third and OIlers up 3-2 and then the OT PP went to LA. So yeah I think this board would have likewise gotten a little pissed.

I didn't watch OT for the OIlers/Kings but I did watch until the end of the 3rd and that last minute penalty was definitely legit. Cross check/high stick to the chin.

Everyone here would still complain though.

I'll be the minority voice and say that Dumba hit definitely wasn't a major and I'd argue it wasn't even a minor penalty either. Per the rulebook "The player deemed in possession of the puck may be checked legally, provided the check is rendered immediately following his loss of possession". Now we all know that "immediately" is the operative word here but the generally accepted rule among players/refs is 1 - 1.5 seconds. And from the angles I've seen he lead with the shoulder / didn't go for the head.

The biggest issue was whether it was a blindside. Principal point of contact was his shoulder (unless there's a reverse angle I didn't see that shows otherwise) but Pavelski's head broke the fall.

I also think one of their sticks got caught between them in the check and ended up impacting the head too.

Blindside hit isn't a penalty as long as the head isn't targeted or the principal point of contact. I think it's a clean hit - and if Pavelski doesn't land on his head I think he gets up and we're praising this as good, hard hockey. Unfortunate that he landed the way he did.

2nd intermission of the Seattle / Colorado game - Subban comes out with no tie, unbuttoned shirt, chest showing...jumping up and down and cracking jokes. Reaction from Chelios was priceless - you can tell he and Subban don't get along and I think it came to a head tonight. I can't stand anyone on that crew - Subban is just unprofessional and trying too hard to be funny, while Chelios and Messier have no personality. I won't watch ESPN pre-game and usually zone out during intermissions. TNT on the other hand - that's a great product.

All four road teams in the West win game 1s. I'm sure the cream will rise but the West seems pretty flat especially if McDavid doesn't get started and Colorado isn't going to be healthy.

They mentioned on Monday's broadcast that Edmonton's coach said something to the effect of "I am not going to let the Kings dictate our matchups, and will put my top line out when I want". Broadcast just mentioned that Daneault's line was on McDavid for 15 of his 19 minutes on the ice, and while McDavid did some of his McDavid things, none of it look unhindered to me. Might be time for the coach to change things up a bit.

No clue why Evason put Fleury in net tonight after Gustafson had a phenomenal game 1. Dallas up 6-3 with 2 minutes left in the 2nd.

They already accomplished stealing home ice and get Gus to have extra rest while letting Fleury get shelled, something he's used to in the playoffs.

Why take a 2-0 lead when you can go back home 1-1. No time to rest goalies who perform well in the playoffs.

Sweet goal by Vilardi

Oilers fans are silent
One of the better goals I've seen. I hate to see McDavid wasting away on the Oilers - they really need to bolster their defense and goaltending. Lots of stupid, undisciplined penalties, and a goalie who's not good enough to bail them out (let alone make the saves he "should" make).
