I was referring to a pairing of Michael Holley and Cerrone Battle...but Leroy did his best to hang with Cerrone last week. I feel his sports knowledge lacks considerably but for entertainment purposes, he serves well as a 3rd, in my opinion. Mike McCarthy, Holley and Cerrone or McCarthy, Cerrone and Leroy would be an entertaining mix.
that wouild be good as well i like holley

Now that bill is gone Zo has lost his last big connection to the team. I feel like he’s a lot less cocky because he lost his safety net and the biggest value he brought to the show.

zo tied a lot of his on air personality to the success of the team. And now that bill is gone he doesn’t really have any strong ties to the current team. Now that the team sucks and he lost his biggest inside connection to them he seems less cocky and doesn’t really know how to cover a shit team. He was close with bill and therefor untouchable. Beatle has been carrying the show and Zo can’t just be a cheerleader anymore.

Zo has plenty of contacts in that building. One less now that BB is gone but his insight inside that building is fine and will continue to be fine.

I hope so. He just seems lost like he has no conviction behind his takes. I mean we can agree that his connection with bill / bills people was invaluable and it’s only natural that he will have to overcome that as well as covering the team that isn’t going to put up 10+ wins without even rolling out of bed.

Belichick has been gone for like 2 weeks now? In January where the patriots aren’t even in the playoffs? Clearly Zo is done

I don't think they'll do it forever, but I like the rolling 3rd chair they've had. They can pull in someone like Perry when it's a deep football day, RJ when it's more hockey related, McCarthy for baseball.

Peak Big Show was when they had a consistent rotation of sports talkers. Each day it would be a different show depending on who was in.

Zo just said they are now the highest rated Midday Sports Show in the US, so things seem just fine.

It should be Joe Murray on headlines middays. Ryan Johnston at nights. It shouldn’t be that complicated, but I feel like this is more Beasley dragging their feet than anything.

That being said, if Joe goes to middays, he should go back to what got him his night gig. I feel like he changed his personality on the air and now is less laid back Joe and more hot-takez sportsy Joe.

Why would Joe, who has a contract to host his own nighttime show, agree to go be the 3rd wheel on the mid day show?

I have no idea what the pay is in either one, but as Beef said above better hours. Also, for 6 months of the year his show is pre-empted by C's and B's about 150 times. So he gets to do 1 hour, sit there for 2-3 hours watching the game, then has to do a 1 hour recap after the game. It's not the worst gig but I'm sure he'd rather be on the air everyday from 10-2 than that shitty setup. Pretty much all these radio guys love being on the air and would prefer to do a 4 hour show than 1 hour, sit around for 3 hours, then do another hour.

My hunch is because of the regular “fraud shifts” he gets during the nights, his pay isn’t quite the same as someone who’s consistently on 4 hours per day.
That also might explain why he (and Jones before him) seem to be the #1 option to fill in during the morning/ afternoon

Maybe. But I think a blowhard like Joe wouldn't want the "demotion" of the flash guy. He wants THE JOE SHOW

Also I think RJ would be terrible as his own host (and I was hoping T&H would dump Wallach and make RJ the flash guy)

I don’t think 3rd chair on the mid day is even a full time job. The pay/benefits is significantly more.

I think it's a full time job. Pay is obviously less, but it's 20 hours of airtime, prep, meetings, social media stuff etc...Although now that I'm thinking of it Hardy had like 9 jobs before T&H, so maybe it isn't....

Did the station bring Mark Dondero over to be the flash guy on Zo and Beetle?
that would be shitty for the micks who’ve put in their time. Never listened to him on eei but so far he doesn’t move the needle at all. As long as it’s not holly, guy just seems weird

Whose great idea was it to have a 4 hour show discussing parts of a show that the audience hasn’t seen yet. Wow you three got to see it ahead of time, no one cares.

Ugh what a boring choice. I feel like he doesn't have any personality.

Would've much preferred Kendra, Phil Perry, or RJ, all 3 at least can make me laugh, not Tim

Kendra and Zo would be *awful*. I can just see Zo being like "so how many women did you sleep with in college?"

(I think Kendra is awful but the reason her and Zo wouldn't work is solely on him, BTW. I'm not implying it's her fault)

Yeah, I agree that Kendra mixed in with that crew just wouldn't work. I think they should pare her with Joe Murray at nights by the way. He could use another regular voice. On his own, that show can be a tough listen.

I like McKone as well. He's a pretty relaxed fit in between two opinionated hosts who occasionally get too wound up.

I bet that RJ is fine in a sub role... there always seems to be someone "out" in the morning pretty regularly, so he'll get his 100+ shows in there pretty easily I imagine. Plus some gigs on Z&B when one of these three is out. Obviously not the same thing as a full-time gig, but still pretty steady and predictable work for him if that suits his lifestyle.

Dander's been getting more time on the weekends, he's not good. He's #1 in people on the weekend I dont want to listen to.

Did anybody else hear Perillo & Cattles’ fight while filling in for Z&B? The last segment before 1pm headlines.
Was it about the free agent signings and Perillo digging on nothing but gut feeling on why the Patriots shouldn’t get credit for spending any guaranteed money?

They got pretty hot with each other talking about the OL. Perillo laid out his assessment as we approach the week of Game 1 (summary: they’re not good), and Cattles was attempting to set up a “what if” counter-argument, presumably to invite discussion. Except Perillo got pretty hostile and literally wouldn’t let Cattles finish a sentence. I thought Cattles was pretty patient and good-natured to a point, but Perillo was unrelentingly rude and wouldn’t let Cattles get a point in edgewise.

Usually Felger and Mazz shit all over Perillo and he kind of just sits there and takes it. It came off to me like he was taking some pent up frustration out on Cattles. At a high level, it was two fill-ins trying to keep the train on the tracks on a holiday weekend Friday. I thought Perillo’s act was unnecessary. There was nothing particularly insightful about anything either of them were saying. Maybe it was just two guys yelling into the void…

Eh. Cattles threw some unnecessary jabs in there. Then after the headlines, Cattles makes a crack at Tyler, and Tyler told him to “say something interesting. I’m earning my paycheck.”

I’m not a Cattles guy if you couldn’t tell… he stinks.

Milliken's line was fantastic (and on point). Cattles picks on him whenever he's around, so Milliken took the opportunity to fight back.

Cattles doesn't bother me, and I think he does a good job on the Bedard podcast, but the whole OL discussion was super tedious.
