so did the booth, because they were showing a replay and cut to the spike at the last possible second. it was confusing. but i think it turned out about right.
But if there was a spike, there can't then also be a review. It's either a spike and the previous play can't be reviewed, or no spike, the play can be reviewed but there should be a runoff. Obviously there is another rule or factor in play in this case that I'm missing.

The spike didn't count as an official play because - at least in theory - the play was stopped by the officials prior to Wilson snapping it.

With respect to the runoff rule, this is the key language from the rulebook:

"ARTICLE 4. REPLAY REVIEW AFTER TWO-MINUTE WARNING
If a replay review after the two-minute warning of either half results in the on-field ruling being reversed and the correct ruling would not have stopped the game clock, then the officials will run 10 seconds off the game clock before permitting the ball to be put in play on the ready-for-play signal. The defense cannot decline the runoff, but either team can use a remaining timeout to prevent it."

They ruled Wilson down by contact on the field, so the runoff rule didn't apply. If they had called the pass incomplete and reversed it because he was down by contact, then the 10 second runoff would've applied.

Basically, Washington got fucked by a loophole in the runoff rule, as it only addresses what happens in the event of a reversal and not a reviewed play that is upheld.

Hey look, Dolphins LB’ers still can’t cover.
Nothing like rooting for a team that has the same holes/weaknesses for literally a decade+

Miami is just as iconic as Oakland as far as those things go. Two of the best franchises of the '70s and into the '80s.

Fuck the Dolphins, though.

Oakland is looking like a great example of how beating a bad schedule doesn't prove much

The NFL as a whole is pretty terrible this year, from the Pats-down.

This is feeling like an Eagles/Pats or possibly even a Rams/Pats Super Bowl, either of which would be incredibly interesting, but from a quality of play standpoint probably one of the poorer Super Bowls in a long time. At least when Seattle throttled Denver they were truly dominant.

Pittsburgh may sneak past the Pats, or KC, but both of them feel completely beatable if the Patriots' improvements on defense are real and they're even league-average from here on out.

Pretty funny listening to Collinsworth talking about the Dolphins getting their rhythm and solving their offensive problems in a half where the team has scored a whopping 9 points.

Can anyone buy Tomlin not being outsmarted by the Pats coaching staff? Plus playoff Andy Reid is a sad story.

When did Carr become a JAG? Is he still hurt?
I've been wondering about his health too. It wouldn't be surprising if he's playing well below 100%. That is a nasty injury he came back from this year and then suffered that back injury on top of it.

It would be interesting. But you are not suggesting the Pats would “throttle” the Eagles, are you? In all our SB wins, the Pats have never “throttled” any opponent.
