Neither guy has played a league-average defense yet. I agree with you on Jackson; on Prescott, I’m a bit more skeptical.
Really? I think the guy with a much more extensive track record of being a competent NFL QB should be the better bet to keep this up going forward. Lamar has played arguably the two worst teams in football this year.

Oakland beating KC might be the only thing that could make this day even better.

I think track record cuts the other way. Dak is still young enough to have a breakout year, but I’ll need to see more than two games against subpar competition to believe this is who he is, rather than who he showed us he was the past couple years. Jackson is only in his 2nd year; I’m not ready to say he’s an MVP candidate either, but it would be surprising if he wasn’t a lot better than last year.

It’s pretty hard to believe Gillette Stadium isn’t even 20 years old and it looks like a minor league stadium compared to all of the newer venues.

The Chiefs are a great foil for the Pats, basically the likes of which they haven’t had in the AFC aside from Peyton’s teams.

I've been having this debate with Cowboys fans (I've got a bunch of friends that love them, for whatever reason) for a long time now, and it's just not true. In his rookie year, Dak had a 104.9 QB rating, and went 13-3 as a starter. In his second season, Zeke was suspended for 6 games, and he was trying to throw to Dez and Witten, who were both in their "final" years, and shells of their former selves. He had a tough year, but still led the team to a 9-7 record.

Last season, he had literally nobody to throw to in the beginning of the season when Dez and Witten retired,, and then they went and got Amari Cooper, and in the last 9 games with Cooper, he had 14t'ds (plus another 4 on the ground), 4ints, and a 103.0 QB rating, and led the team to a 7-2 record and then their first playoff win in forever.

Now., he's got Cooper, Zeke and Witten are healthy, and Gallup is turning into a player, and he looks just like he did in 2016.

He's not Tom Brady, so you can't expect him (or anyone) to light it up with literally no weapons around him. Give him a couple skill position guys, and IMO, he's going to spend most of this year as a top 5-10 QB in the league. The Cowboys would be insane to not work out an extension with him and try to start over with a new QB.

Looked like a fumble live too. That’s some pretty terrible refereeing that cost the Saints a TD.

The Saints deserve about 15 game changing make up calls from the NFL. Just hope they don't come in the SB against the Pats.

Not only should the default be to NOT blow the whistle, that looked like a fumble live.

Post-game press conference should be fun.

These refs who blow would be dead balls early should be suspended. There’s no excuse for it when you have the replay as a fall back

I'm sorry, but these officials are a damn joke. You can't have that happen after last year. It simply can't. This is reaching NBA levels of ineptitude.

Thanks for responding, that’s a very thoughtful and interesting take (not that I’m surprised). Will be an interesting storyline to follow as the season unfolds.

It’s true. The Saints got screwed again. However, they were the recipients of one God-awful PI call against Joe Haden that gave them a TD early in the game last year against the Steelers (it was a 40-yard penalty that placed the ball at the one), and then another against Haden that would have turned the ball over on downs to the Steelers with less than two minutes to go. In other words, the refs handed that game to them.

Bad calls happen, like right there. So we’re all clear on the theme of this post: it’s not a conspiracy, and the Saints also have benefited from bad officiating.

I mean, I still find it hard to compare that to the biggest (?) missed call in NFL history. I can't think of a bigger combination of blatant and situation. The saints are owed for a long time and this doesn't help.

Kansas City looks like they can score at will. It's a very very good offense. The AFC should be pretty fun, because the Pats looks fantastic, too.
