Tottenham responded so well after the goal, real attacking intent.....why play Mourinho-ball all game with that kind of attacking prowess? What do I know though...

hard not to love this team. Really happy it was Bobby, too. 18 shots to 7, 76% possession. If Spurs don't have Son, they are mid-table team the way they play now under Mourinho.

It helped a lot that Liverpool stopped pressing once they went ahead.

Skipped the game because I needed to get some work done. A tense 1-1 game ending with a last gasp goal from Firmino is...not what I would have needed in the middle of a stressful week, so it looks like I made the right decision. Jose has Tottenham playing very organized and they've bought in and overachieved so far this season, but some of his personnel decisions remain very questionable.

Yup. Win, lose, or draw he's rarely silent after a game at Anfield, regardless of who he is managing.
“A very, very unfair result.”

I’m always amazed at the contrast in attitudes from European football coaches as compared to American counterparts. It seems like in the US, coaches emphasize how they can improve, and what they did wrong. European coaches either bitch like this, or emphasize the positive.

I'd like to a see a closer replay, but it looks like Dier got picked on the play but went down far too easily for a man of his size. Fair play to Liverpool, they deserved it today.

They wouldn't make that call because Henderson is a good English player.

AM I DOING THIS RIGHT???

You knew when the lights came up at last call and everyone else had partnered up and left already... he’d be waiting....

West Bromwich welcomes you with open arms, big man.

He will keep them up. It will be a death of the soul snd he will cackle with glee after a string of 0-0 draws and he will be bought out of the second year of his 18-month contract snd he will count his filthy lucre on the beach in Ibiza wearing a tiny little ball-bag with his fat gut spilling over it, before moving on to keep the next code red from crashing out.

but they will stay up.

A fitting tribute. I raised a goblet of red wine alongside my Chinese food takeout tonight in tribute to the man who simultaneously makes football better and worse.

I still thank him for bailing Palace out (and making a few excellent signings in the January window). But after Pardew gunning for 4-0 wins every week and seldom getting them, the term “respect the point” from Sam’s days is still used pretty much every week in some context in South London.

no doubt he’s good at what he does. Everton had legit fears of going down when we brought him on and he righted the ship. He stopped the leaking of goals, that’s for sure.

It’s just amazing that the flailing manager he replaced is now managing Barca. “Fat Sam was brought in to clean up my mess” should be disqualifying for any serious job let alone taking charge of the biggest club in the wo

I'm not so sure Big Sam will keep West Brom up. They simply lack talent; as a promoted side, they don't have a PL-caliber squad. Their relegation fight comes down to, basically, are they better than Burnley? I don't think so.

Thank you very much for posting that. While that's definitely a pick play, corners are reffed in a way to significantly favor the defense--i.e. refs let a lot go, so defenders are the ones who need to clutch, grab, and otherwise behave like they're a CB within 5 yards of the LOS. Hendo is a big boy and I'm sure that hurt, but it looks like to me that Dier should've been tighter on Bobby and not let it get to that point.

Yeah, I think it's borderline. I think the VAR decision not to overturn is correct b/c it's not a clear and obvious error. The initial decision, however, is more questionable. There's not a lot of contact and Dier probably goes down more easily than he should, but I lean toward it being a foul because Henderson goes out of his way to initiate the contact -- he leans his elbow into Dier's back -- and that's not an incidental part of just making his own run, and obviously he's not playing the ball.

I some how can't stand Jose, yet would kill for the chance to hangout with him.
The stories about all the staff at the Manchester hotel he was living at crying when he finally left after being fired is telling. Dude must be charming af.

Oh wow. Pope got a fingertip on that free-kick. What a shot and what a save.

No doubt in my mind that he should be ahead of Pickford.

I'd take Alex McCarthy over Pickford.
I was in a difficult place to type on my phone and I didn't know if I was being sarcastic enough.

Nick Pope is so much better than Jordan Pickford in literally every area. I cannot wrap my brain around Southgate's insistence on Pickford being ahead in the order.

I have lost count of the high quality opportunities Villa have blasted wide of the net. They are missing in every conceivable way.

The Aston Villa finishing has been way off tonight. They could've had a few.

Dyche will take a point all day. Good result for Burnley.
