I think Bradley has gotten much more comfortable with his role and it is translating into better performances.

I think that's part of it, but the other part is the switch to a two-forward formation.  Bradley's game requires having runners to pick out and having two wide midfielders + two forwards is a must.  When it's reduced to two wide midfields + 1 forward with two deeper CMs behind him (as in the 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3) he's not nearly as effective.

Evans is playing RB, Chandler has shifted to LB.  Beckerman DM.  Yedlin playing RM, with Zardes moving up top.

I'm only following online, but ESPN gamecast says Chandler left the game.

He's still in.  It was Johnson who went out.

And nice interchange between Mix and Johannsson leads to a chance for Zardes, but Germany's last-ditch defending snuffs it out.

EDIT: I thought that was at least a semi-legit penalty shout for Zardes.

US looking significantly better in the first 15min of the second half than at any time during the first half. Several sustained possessions, a few good half-chances, etc. It's amazing what a goal will do for confidence.

Everyone always seems to play a little better when Beckerman is on the field.  I'm going to miss him when he ages out of the pool in a year or two.

Also, Yedlin's speed scares every defense in the entire world and opens up space.  I really hope he continues to develop over the course of the cycle.

I can't figure out what's going on. On the one hand, Germany seems to be using Khedira as a striker, or at least playing with no defined striker in some sort of tactical experiment, and on the other hand, this game is tied and the US look more threatening in possession.

Please explain.

The game changed a lot when Germany took off Schweinsteiger, who was bossing the match from midfield, and put on Khedira, who is doing god knows what out there.

Germany is playing almost none of their preferred options in defense. Still better than the US has played in attack usually.

Holy shit.  Morris immediately comes close.  That was a nice shot with the outside of his foot.

Great counter. MB with a terrific pass to Yedlin making the run on the wing.  I'm torn if Yedlin should have pushed it and taken the shot but his ball to Bradley was nice. Just need a better finish.

FS1 Go sucks btw. Clean this crap up before any major tourneys on FS1.

Great turn to create space, too.  Great shot.  I don't even think Wood is left-footed.

From Twitter: "The USA continues it's dominance of Germany in the 40's"

Let's just hope that Germany doesn't re-unify in the 90s.

As you were.

Great performance.  Germany trotted out a pretty weak team in the second half and looked a bit disinterested, but we still took the match by the scruff of the neck and controlled it  completely, which you don't see very often against good competition.

Well . . . that's, something isn't it?

When Friedel said, in that is-it-an-English-accent voice, something about it looking like Germany was the team trying to preserve a 1-1 tie, I think I audibly snorted with disapproval.  Shows what the fuck I know.

So, the US FIFA ranking should climb a bit---wins over #1 and #6.

The US will also climb in the ELO ratings, which I think are less flawed than the FIFA rankings.  The US is currently 17th there.

That dummy (NCAA player) and finish (on a club relegated out of the 2.Bundesliga) were beautiful. Hard to believe the USMNT did that

Soccer is a funny sport.

That said, Morris and Wood will both find their way to new clubs soon.
