Today:

AEK - Ajax
CSKA Moskva - Plzen
Bayern - Benfica
Lyon - Man. City
Hoffenheim - Shakhtar Donesk
Roma - Real Madrid
Juventus - Valencia
Man - United - Young Boys

Group E:
  • Bayern will be through if they draw and will clinch first place if they win and Ajax do not.
  • Ajax will be through with a victory or if Benfica fail to win.
  • Benfica must win to maintain a chance of a top-two finish.

  • AEK can still finish third but need to get to within three points of Benfica before they face off on matchday six.
Group F:
  • Manchester City will be through with a draw and will clinch first place with a win.

  • Lyon will be through with a win. A draw will be enough if the other game is also drawn due to their better head-to-head over Hoffenheim.

  • Hoffenheim will be out of contention for a top-two finish if they lose, or if they draw and Lyon avoid defeat. A win keeps Hoffenheim in contention regardless of the other result.
  • Shakhtar will be out of contention for a top-two finish if Lyon win or if both games are drawn. Shakhtar will be confirmed in fourth place if they lose.
Group G:
  • Roma will clinch a round of 16 place with a draw or if CSKA fail to win.

  • Madrid will clinch a round of 16 place as group winners with victory. They will also be through regardless of their result if CSKA fail to win.
  • CSKA must win to stay in contention for a top-two finish.

  • Plzeň must avoid defeat to stay in contention for a third-place finish.
Group H:
  • Juventus will be through with a draw or if Manchester United lose.

  • Man. United will be through if they win and Valencia do not.
  • Valencia will be out of contention for a top-two finish if they do not win and United do.

  • Young Boys must win to have any chance of a third-place finish.

Tomorrow:

Atletico - Monaco
Lokomotiv Moskva - Galatasaray
Dortmund - Brugge
Spurs - Inter
PSV - Barcelona
Napoli - Crvena zvezda
PSG - Liverpool
Porto - Schalke

Group A:
  • Dortmund will be through with a draw. Dortmund will clinch first place if they win and Atlético lose.
  • Atlético will be through if they win, or if Brugge fail to gain victory.

  • Brugge must win to stay in contention for a top-two finish.
  • Monaco can finish third but must reduce their gap to Brugge below three points.
Group B:
  • Barcelona are through, and will clinch first place in the group with a win, or a draw if Inter do not beat Spurs.
  • Inter will be through with a draw.
  • Spurs must win to stay in contention for a top-two finish.
  • PSV can finish third but must reduce their gap to Spurs below three points.
Group C:
  • Liverpool will be through if they win and Crvena Zvezda do not beat Napoli.

  • Napoli will be through if they win and Paris do not beat Liverpool.

  • Paris will be unable to finish in the top two if they lose and Napoli win.

  • Crvena Zvezda will be unable to finish in the top two if they lose.
Group D:
  • Porto will be through with a draw, or if Galatasaray fail to win. Porto clinch first place with victory.

  • Schalke will be through with a win, or if Galatasaray fail to beat Lokomotiv.

  • Galatasaray must win to stay in contention for a top-two finish.

  • Lokomotiv are still able to finish in third place but must win to remain in contention.

Final games of the Group Stage will be played December 11 and 12.

TNT is outdoing themselves here with the sound mixing. The crowd is so much louder than the commentators that you can't understand the vast majority of what they say. Never mind that the one game they've selected for us to watch has no significance outside of winning the group or coming in second.

Lyon go ahead against City. If this result holds, City will need Lyon not to win against Shakhtar or else finish second and possibly face a brutal R16 tie.

Juve up 1-0 on Valencia but, more importantly, United still drawing 0-0 against Young Boys. If this holds, Valencia will still be through with a win against United at home on the final matchday.

Edit: And City equalize...

Confusion on who was picking up that rebound in the box. No one taking charge and Alisson caught leaning the wrong way. Sloppy.

Liverpool not quite up to the pace of the game yet. PSG have come out the traps like hungry whippets.

So far, Liverpool's distribution into the box has been pretty poor. Need a bit more quality.

I don't think a single Liverpool player is having a good game up to this point. I was gonna say Milner, then he lost the bloomin ball.

I'm not gonna lie, there's something oddly beautiful about the way Neymar reacts to pain. He puts so much into it.

Verratti escaping there

Nvm wasn’t him

5 on 4 and Henderson opts for the looping back post cross to a double-marked Milner. Nice

Well shit.

Edit: To be more specific, Henderson is playing like shit. He’s just too slow in defense and unimaginative with his passing to be on the pitch today.

This fucking ref, are you kidding me?

Linesman to the rescue. Only other instance where I’ve seen a touchline ref correctly intervene was to bail Areola out in this fixture at Anfield

Watching Neymar, Mbappe, and Cavani break...wow.
It’s insane. And they have Di Maria streaking down the opposite side more often than not.

Midfield is going to be their undoing if they progress, unless they let a combo like Rabiot/Verratti/Marquinhos jell.

Christ, within 4 touches of nearly getting stuffed in their own 6 by Firmino, PSG nearly sprang Mbappé but for too long a lead pass

van Dijk animated in his disgust with Henderson one touching his pass to Lovren instead of turning. Can’t disagree, there haven’t been many incisive looks from midfield for Liverpool

Thiago Silva’s been a bigger plongeur than Neymar tonight by far. He nearly/may have concussed himself with a dive right there

Keita has the quality to direct some attack’s through the middle. It’s been too easy for Silva & Friends to cut out attempts from wide.
