Trouble with iPhone 6 after iOS 9 update

My 75 year old dad decided he would update he and my mom's phones last night and today he realized that all of his content now middle my mother's stuff. Contacts, apps etc. I factory reset the phone and restored through the iCloud to a previous backup from last night and it did not help. They share an iTunes account but are set up so that they do not share content (I'm not exactly sure by what mechanism, I think the guy at Verizon set it up for him).

Any quick fixes?

Rotten Apple
I've heard lots of problems with ios9 upgrades, especially older phones. I don't have an answer other than they may have to wait for Apple to push a bug update since it's not just them having issues or a trip to the Genius bar. I'm sure they're busy with this crappy ios launch.

It sounds like they may be sharing the same iCloud account.  They should be set up with their own individual iCloud accounts (even if they share an iTunes account).

They probably didn't have it set to sync contacts or a bunch of other things to the cloud. As BH Kim said, ultimately they should each have their own iCloud accounts, and you really don't even need to share an iTunes account anymore because you can enable Family Sharing which allows the sharing of purchases between devices with 1 purchase. It will likely take some work to sort out contacts and things since they're probably merged on the cloud and on both devices at this point.

Someone had a similar issue in another thread. It's definitely a bizarre thing for it to basically be merging multiple phones that are linked to one iCloud account, but I'd guess it was missed in beta because people who are tech savvy enough to want to beta test likely aren't using a setup that shares an iCloud account (because it's a patently awful idea; share iTunes account if you really want to but iCloud routes things like iMessage and you really don't want that shared).

They had family sharing enabled. When I reset it and went in to iCloud settings to go to a backup, after it rebooted, going into that page in settings again it had my dad's email address hat the iTunes is set up under and then below that listed my mom's email that her iCloud account is under. I have no idea what happened but he took it to Verizon today and the guy sorted it out for him. I havent heard the details of what he did but they're all good. Thx guys.
