Chase field is a notable hitter's park. Other NL West parks are mostly very pitcher-friendly (LAD, SFG, SD), except for Coors.phenweigh said:Looking at Miley's splits, he's been better on the road then at home. Maybe the Sox think a change of scenery will do him good.
The guy was born in August 1992. He'll still be 22 at the All Star break next year. Sure, some investigation is needed. But assuming you don't find out the kid's Hal Chase or Dick Allen or . . . I'm not sure who, you'd have to be interested in acquiring him.soxhop411 said:“@keithlaw: Couple of execs told me that they think the Mariners have soured on Taijuan Walker’s makeup, in part due to his behavior in the AFL.”

Following up on @Ken_Rosenthal report: #Nationals have had greater volume of trade talks this week on J. Zimmermann than I. Desmond.

#RedSox have agreement in principle for #DBacks’ Miley, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. AZ will get Webster, De La Rosa and a minor leaguer.

While I recognize that I probably like pitchers in the mold of Wade Miley more than most, my early take — without knowing who the third prospect is, which could change things — is that this is a pretty nifty upgrade for the Red Sox.
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/285442811.htmlGeneral manager Doug Melvin did say his group actually met in person with another team for the first and only time of the meetings -- at the other team's request -- but said it did not lead to a percolating deal.
The team might have been Boston, which is shopping first baseman/outfielder Allen Craig. The Red Sox are looking for starting pitching, and Melvin has said if he dealt a starter he'd want a player for both now and the future. Craig is signed through 2017 with $26.5 million remaining on his contract and a club option for $13 million in 2018.
