Schefter says the Rams gave up 4th plus 6th rounders for Barron.

Edit: Damn you Corsi.

If TB thinks Barron is truly a bust, that's not a terrible return given that he only has one more year left on his deal (plus a team option we assume nobody wants to pick up).  The Rams need safety help badly but I don't quite understand the logic from their perspective.  This year is a lost cause and so they give up two mid-late picks to add a semi-bust SS for one year next year.  And if he breaks out in a new system then they either get to pick up a very expensive option or compete for him in free agency.

It is a bit weird. One, you're right that they just lost two safeties to injury, so gotta pick up someone. Two, Fisher/Snead may feel their jobs are on the line so are hoping for a late run....late rounders may not be their main concern. Three, maybe Fisher/Robinson think that Barron will be more of a fit in their style defense, so think they're getting him cheap.

I dunno...I agree it doesn't quite compute.

I think you've probably nailed it.  This seems like a classic case where the short term incentives of coaches with weak job security don't necessarily align with the long-term interests of the franchise.
