In a multi decade career, there will be plenty of hangers on that benefit from being in the orbit of someone that exceptional. Arians might get more mileage than anyone out of his stint.

Fair. But bro gave him his career highlight going away, and the TB franchise highlight. I gotta think this is all posturing to ensure they get the best deal possible in the unlikely chance Brady wants back. I can't imagine they would truly want to screw the guy that delivered that for them. Especially considering he could do some damage to their cap situation if he really wanted to.
I give you that. But the initial post implies Arians is useless and Brady is the only thing that got him fame and fortune. He made a Super Bowl and has two losing seasons, each with 7 wins. He's a good coach who benefited from getting Brady, not some Barry Switzer type.
He's a lot closer to Barry Switzer than good. What does Arians do that is good?

He consistently wins football games at a greater than average clip and has done so without Brady. So far the only evidence you’ve presented to why he’s not a good coach is that he’s won with Tom Brady, as if that’s a demerit, while not giving him credit for getting Brady to Tampa and not mentioning (not remembering?) his success in Arizona.
Your counterfactual is also useless since any team without Brady will objectively be worse unless he’s being replaced with one of a small handful of QBs.
Don't forget, there were people on this website calling McVay an average, at best, coach. McVay has made the playoffs 4 times in 5 years, been to the SB twice, and won one.
It doesn't matter if coaches are actually good. They lose sometimes and rarely win the SB and that means they suck.
NO. He got played by Belichick and he lost in the Super Bowl. With Jared Goff as his QB. Because he's an idiot who had stars in his eyes because of his reverence for Belichick. Sure, he made the Super Bowl at like 33 years old. But who doesn't?

He had nothing to do with that defense. He happened to have the only D coordinator that had the formula against Brady. Wade Phillips.
Also I like McVay but his teams have been stacked on both sides of the ball. The Rams have mortgaged the future and the next two after as well
And they did what they were supposed to do and win the Super Bowl. You don't get bonus Super Bowls for degree of difficulty.
I am out of fury, I think. McVay's resume speaks for itself. I guess Belichick is an idiot, too, because he hasn't won a SB in 3 years. At some point you just have to ask yourself, is every coach in the NFL a complete moron?
McVay inherited a team that was a laughingstock for a decade-plus and hadn't been to the playoffs in 12 years. In five years, he's made the playoffs four times, won three division titles, two conference championships and a Super Bowl.
Despite that, you don't seem to think much of him. It's been established you don't think much of Tomlin. Who, exactly, in your opinion is good?
Would you give him credit for the defense in that Superbowl? Only asking as that is the point I responded to? The guy is an offensive head coach who lets his D-Coordinator run that side of the ball, there is nothing wrong with that, but we shouldn't credit him for the defensive game plan in the LIII.
And I said he was good. I just pointed out that he had three all-pros on his roster this year to go along with mid-season pick-ups Von Miller and OBJ and lots of talent on that roster that I am too casual of a fan to know. If they did not win the Superbowl, this season was a failure.
I tend to look at coaches based on their team's performance vs. their talent. You mentioned my opinion of Tomlin and historical his teams are talented but have a tendency to play down to the competition. McVay has a strong track record over a SSS and during that time his roster has been great, but to be fair he has done a great job of scheming good plays for a not-great QB in Goff, and that is very impressive. Before I crown him as a great coach, I want to see how he does with an aging roster that no longer has top talent at a lot of positions.
With all that said, looking at the list I quickly put together I would put him in the top 5 right now.
(I am always amazed at how quickly teams go through coaches. Only 5 coaches were hired before 2017, 10 before 2019 )

Sorry for somehow taking this thread off of Brady and onto coaches.
It feels like those guys and Reid get dragged the most in this forum. Of course Carroll used to get dragged a ton, too, but that stopped when the Seahawks regressed. Makes me wonder…
