It comes across like Callahan finally said something that personally offended Kirk and now he is big mad about it. I'm sure Kirk was cool dunking on plenty of other people Callahan has ridiculed before.
I watched it. And like you said for a guy who sat next to Callahan for years and listened to him spew some really vile shit, now he's angry that Callahan spewed some vile shit about his personal situation. And it wouldn't surprise me if this was a work because all Minihane did was call Callahan some names, that I'm sure he's heard before, and said he'd punch him if he saw him at an upcoming 5K.

This seemed liked EEI 101. All that was missing is Mike Adams in the booth egging him on.

Minihane is mad because Gerry retweeted a Tweet from a swimmer who is against Lea Thomas competing, who was responding to something Megan Rapinoe said, with the swimmer saying that because Rapinoe is gay, she can't have a daughter to love. Minihane is mad that Gerry would endorse such a position, since he himself has adopted children that he loves very much. Kirk then says he will never talk to Gerry again and that anybody who goes on Gerry's show (what show does Callahan have now? Something on Rumble?) won't be on his show. I suspect Gerry will be on Kirk's show pretty soon so they can "fight" on air about this.

After I got two people deep on "so and so said something, then someone else said something else..." I knew this was not going to be worth anyone's time.

It was kind of confusing and Minihane is paid to relay information.
Oh, I was talking about Kliq's description of it. Once you get past the second level of people commenting on things other people said, you're always dealing with complete nonsense. I didn't get through his first sentence before knowing I was out and would never watch that video.

I haven't heard Minihane since he left WEEI where he was the worst. He can barely get sentence out in the beginning. His rant on that video shows he's still the same person. He's awful and an egomaniac. It's funny he hung out with D&C and Curtis and others when he was part of the problem and now he's "spitting in their fucking face".

Ha, ha. Minihane didn't do a great job either. But I thought that Kliq did a fine job of TL;DW.

Good thing I'm not paid to relay information...
Nah, your description was fine, it was the subject matter I found lacking. Once a commenter is commenting on another commenters comment, it becomes an informational human centipede.

But then what’s happening here?
Well, we are not professionals under direction to generate content (or clicks, or views) and I would hope most of us don't fall back on fake outrage as our default method of analyzing an issue. So I would hope we would honestly express our opinions on issues on this board, preventing the quick degeneration you see in the media after one or two cycles. But you never know.

Disney layoffs have substantially impacted FiveThirtyEight. I am sad and disappointed to a degree that’s kind of hard to express right now. We’ve been at Disney almost 10 years. My contract is up soon and I expect that I’ll be leaving at the end of it.
I had been worried about an outcome like this and so have had some great initial conversations about opportunities elsewhere. Don’t hesitate to get in touch. I am so proud of the work of FiveThirtyEight staff. It has never been easy. I’m so sorry to the people impacted by this.

This is probably not the thread for this, but this has been bugging me for about a week and I have to figure out what it is: does anyone remember a video from the 90s or early 00s (it might even be the late 80s) where a bunch of media people made a song and John Dennis' line was something to the effect of "[blank] can kiss my ass!"?

This earworm, and it's mostly the way Dennis says it, is haunting me. I've been scouring YouTube for it for days and can't find it at all. Any help would be appreciate it.

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen that before. And it's way better than "The Patriots and We".

I never noticed this, but a lot of people really seemed to like white sweatshirts in the 80s.

I've always enjoyed Karen's work, but for some reason I thought she retired like 5+ years ago. Or maybe that was just from doing stuff for ESPN?
Figured when she'd pen the occasional Herald articles she was doing just freelance stuff.

Tim Burke, who’s well known for his work at Deadspin and on Twitter for his compilations of sports broadcasts, had his home office raided and much of his computer equipment seized by the FBI. His wife, who was recently re-elected to the Tampa City Council, says that the raid was linked to his work as a journalist.

Burke has been known for his ability to mine the internet for obscure video and audio clips, so there’s a chance that this could be some kind of hacking investigation, but the FBI hasn’t released any info about the warrant.

Holy shit, I didnt realize the journalist in question was Tim Burke (people may know him as @bubbaprog on twitter).

I do know that his wife won a council seat and the people she defeated were establishment types with a ton of money at their disposal….

Wild story

Per the Tampa Bay Times, the investigation seems to be related to various hacks at Fox News, specifically Tucker Carlson’s show.

It may make more sense for mods to move further discussion to V&N.

Shannon Sharpe leaving FOX Sports after NBA Finals.

https://nypost.com/2023/06/01/shannon-sharpe-hints-at-reason-for-skip-bayless-split-on-undisputed/

The article mentions that their relationship became progressively worse over the last two years. They went remote during the lockdowns. When they finally returned, it became a different show (I believe their budget was slashed). They no longer had guests or had round table discussions. They would be literal during those segments and have the camera rotate around the table, but it became just a face off between Skip and Shannon for two and a half hours. Both of these guys can be annoying and have strong personalities. With the elimination of any personality buffer, it became a weird daily debate marriage between the two of them.

Curious where Sharpe's podcast goes, if anywhere.
Also curious who replaces him. Any potential candidates?

Same. He takes it seriously but is also much lighter in tone. None of the scorched earth hot takes most of the other hosts seem to depend on.
He's a good fill in with Joe on weekends. TBH I'm not sure how he will do with a "serious" setting like Pats Postgame.

Happy for Joe Murray. Just needs to learn to self filter e.g. some wrestler dropping a new shirt being the reason the INTERNET went down. As long as he stays in his wheelhouse, he's great.

It's a widespread issue but am I the only one who has trouble listening to Chris Gasper? The man cannot answer seemingly any question without saying "That's a great question. In terms of answering it from an answering the question standpoint..." Dude must use those same verbal ticks twenty times an hour.

I don’t think he’s good on the radio, the Friday segment on F&M is an immediate channel change for me. I don’t particularly like him in print either, between the constant alliteration and the language that has me reaching for a thesaurus, it’s a little too much.

It’s been a while since I have listened to him but I like that Gasper does not hesitate to challenge F&M for their crappy takes and I think Gasper and Jim Murray are very good together on Saturdays.

deep inside Guido territory
Craig Carton is leaving WFAN to exclusively work for Fox Sports.

"Craig Carton is leaving WFAN, The Post has learned.
Carton exits after nearly three years of radio ratings success that led in part to cable sports network FS1 giving him a morning show last September that bears his name, “The Carton Show.”
Carton will now just do the FS1 program, which will pay him seven figures, according to sources.
He is expected to leave WFAN in a little more than two weeks.
For Carton, the financial difference between WFAN and FS1 was too great and the previous schedule was too daunting to remain on afternoon radio in New York."

I remember reading something about Carton's work schedule where he'd be out of the house by 4am and wouldn't get home until after 8pm, or something similar. Total grind.

For the record, I can't find it, but I've been thinking about this for a while. His reference was to a program director he worked for when he was on TV. I remember looking up the name when eei played it at one point on d&c.
