I'm not suggesting hitting the panic button by any stretch, but I'm curious to hear if folks are seeing anything in Naps' approach or mechanics to warrant concern at this early stage, beyond my crude observation that he's out of synch. Napoli was the player I was arguably most excited to see coming out of the gates this season following his surgery and his great spring. The SSS, of course, along with his general streakiness give me plenty of confidence that 0 -17 will be a drop in the bucket when all is said and done. I still believe he's poised to put up big numbers this year.
That said, I didn't see many of his at bats this spring, but I've seen almost all of them this past week. By no means does he look "lost," but he does seem to have been late on a fair number of pitches he hasn't driven the ball with much authority. I can't help but wonder if the days off following the last spring break game and being forced to sit in Philly threw him off a bit, but for those who watched him more closely during the spring games, does anything stand out in comparison to his recent plate appearances?
