Justin Coleman, rook had a nice game.

I thought the secondary was shit-hell fire. How many times did Fitz pick up a wide open third and long with two guys in his face? 5? 6?SeoulSoxFan said:
Pleasantly surprised that the secondary (that includes Coleman and Ryan playing starter minutes) wasn't shit-hell on fire.
Nink also had a hella game.

I loved him as a Ram. Edelman was plan b that first year but became the focus when Amendola got hurt.Jed Zeppelin said:This was the Amendola that I insisted to people could be an upgrade over Welker. Great routes, sticky hands.

ok. So they were bad but not horrible. They don't belong anywhere near the game ball thread.SeoulSoxFan said:
I hear ya, but to me 295 total passing yards with some garbage throws at the end do not qualify as "shit-hell on fire". Not good, but not "shit-hell on fire".

This never gets old. Ever since the Steelers in the 2000 playoffs this has been the losing team's narrative in close games. Great win, against a solid Jets team and coaching staff.SeoulSoxFan said:

My A** should be walking back to New York. How you bounce back after moments like this produce CHAMPIONS or CHUMPS.. . #jets

Ah, I also thought the refs should have called the pick play the Jets ran for a TD- the receiver didn't even pretend to run a route, he blocked the DB.
For real... i couldn't believe they signaled to stop the clock on that play.Ed Hillel said:
Marshall was tackled about a yard in bounds on that play, so it pretty much evened out.
Never mentioned in the game thread but I'm sure that wasn't a clean catch.kenneycb said:Does anyone remember the first down catch Dobson had on a 2nd and short? I didn't think he caught that but the Pats got to the line fast enough where it didn't really matter.

He bobbled it and then when he got control it hit the ground just a second after. I don't think it would have got overturned but breathed a sigh of relief when they got the next snap off without a challenge.

I was far from an expert even before they redefined the rule twelve times but I think you just explained why it wasn't a catch.
To paraphrase Mike Leach, real balance is spreading the ball around so they can't completely key in on one or two guys. 8 guys with catches is pretty good.SeoulSoxFan said:
Why pretend to "run" the ball when the best match ups are in the passing game?
As quoted elsewhere, BB could not give less shit about the so-called "balance" playcalling.
I think in today's NFL this is what a good but not elite secondary looks like.RedOctober3829 said:I agree with amarshall. The secondary was shit today. Too many times receivers were wide open on 3rd down and long and converted. They have to get better. Defense did fine on 1st/2nd down but struggled mightily on passing downs. Not much of a pass rush either.
I wonder if this game is a little differnt if Sheard plays. Needed a little bit more pass rush today.dcmissle said:Perhaps, but then every other aspect of the team needs to be locked down and squared away.
A win is a win is a win. There is plenty to work on and thankfully a lot of time left.
The ultimate goal would have to probably go through (Cant believe im saying this) CIN and possibly GB. Can this secondary hold up against those skill players? That's the standard I'm judging against not the Jets with Fitzpatrick.( . ) ( . ) and (_!_) said:I think in today's NFL this is what a good but not elite secondary looks like.

"First game, last game, it doesn't matter. I expect more out of myself and my teammates expect more from me," he said. "I'm just real down on myself right now, but I'm happy for the other guys around me stepped their level of play up and held their own, making plays when we needed them and I wasn't."
