4. Backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said one of the things Butler has going for himself is "dangerous speed.

Haven't paid much (really, any) attention to Butler this season, but it sounds like between his hands and his speed, he could end up being a great corner.

Hermit's Peak
On NFL Network just now they showed sideline footage of the coaches realizing what was happening in terms of Seattle's personnel, and making signals and the substitution to send Butler in. "Malcolm, GO!!!" and Butler runs in. Really cool to see that.

Game ball to Frantzy Jourain.

In May, the Patriots had already filled their 90-man roster with their rookie draft class and undrafted free agents when they hosted about 30 prospects at Gillette Stadium. A lot of work goes into pulling something like that off, not to mention expense, but the thinking was that even if just one of those players emerged at some point, it would all be worth it.

That was the day they found Butler, who was first spotted by area scout Frantzy Jourdain.

The hero of Super Bowl XLIX said the Patriots were the only team to even give him the chance to try out.

From Reiss' mailbag column.

OK this is a litle weird:

Malcolm to make a play for viewers after the Superbowl (February 1, 2002)

Since the Super Bowl provides television's single biggest predictable audience, playing piggyback with the game can mean extra ratings yardage for a show.

Fox, home of the Super Bowl on Sunday, has anointed as the game's beneficiary "Malcolm in the Middle," the sitcom about a genius kid (Frankie Muniz) and his endearingly loopy family.

Malcolm in the middle, indeed.
