Karatsev only had three tour match wins ever before this week, the first in 2015. He is a few points away from doubling that in just a few days, serving at 5-3 now.

Ends it with an ace down the middle, so impressive. 6-3, 6-3, 6-3, can’t wait to hear what Schwartzman says later. Karatsev gets the winner of the Canadian showdown next.

Krygios had Thiem on the ropes, up two sets and a break point in the first game of the third, but couldn't close it and then went flat for a bit. There has been precisely one break total each set, 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, and currently 4-4 in the 4th. Fun battle, the crowd has of course been going wild knowing that their curfew is coming up in less than two hours.

Thiem gets the break at 4-4 and serves it out, off to a 5th set. Krygios has gotten two warnings for equipment abuse already, the next is a full game penalty and hopefully that doesn't cost him the match. He is an absolute loon on the court, I have never seen anything like it. At least three times in this match, he has tried to hit a putaway shot between his legs when it wasn't necessary, every time he missed, two were huge points.

Thiem gets the break and closes it out, he served amazingly the final three sets.

Djokovic up two sets on Fritz but is fighting through a stomach muscle injury that has him severely limited.

Novak in big trouble now, going to a 4th set, maybe his painkillers will kick in.

Swiatek has not dropped a set in 10 straight Grand Slam matches. In fact, 6-4 is the closest set she has had in this run (4 of the 20 sets have been 6-4).

Swiatek faces Halep next , whom she beat in the same round at the French 6-1, 6-2 after losing to Halep 6-1, 6-0 in 2019 Roland Garros. Swiatek at +120 odds, might not see her as an underdog much if she steamrolls Halep again.

Today hasn't been too compelling, Nadal plays later.

Tomorrow's schedule is insane though, especially for round of 16 matches. 5 matches scheduled for Rod Laver including 7 former Grand Slam winners!! The other three players are all top 16 also, Sabalenka (7), Dimitrov (15), and Raonic (14).

Osaka/Muguruza
Serena/Sabalenka
Thiem/Dimitrov

Halep/Swiatek
Djokovic/Raonic

Double-faulting to give away that serve a couple games ago was really rough, and Muguruza is hitting some spectacular shots right now.

Osaka pulls it out, Mugu can't rebound from blowing the 5-3 lead in the 3rd. Great match!

Wow, both of those women's matches were serious heavyweight battles, so impressed with Sabalenka battling back from 1-4 to 4-4 in the 3rd, and then one loose game and it is over.

Serena played some of the best defensive points of her career in that match, there was one point in the middle where she somehow returned what should have been four winners to all corners and stole the point.

Serena definitely looks fitter and quicker than she did last year. I was thinking that she didn't have a chance to get #24, but if she can stay healthy and keep moving like this she could.

She will certainly earn it if she does, taking out the #7 seed today and looking like her road from here will be #2 Halep, #3 Osaka, and then #1 Barty in the final, possibly with fans back in the stands.

Thiem blows 3-1 in both the first two sets and had nothing left in the third, completely out of sthiem. Dimitrov gets my man Aslan next round.

Djokovic somehow looks OK, he couldn't quite break Raonic in the first set but won the tiebreak 7-4.

I slept through the Halep match but looked like the third classic of the day, Halep coming back from a set down. Halep/Serena in the quarters...

Novak in some trouble again, Raonic has figured out he can't really return the wide serve and he is going there over and over and over.

I legit spit out some coffee. Just flipping it on - is Raonic injured too?

Heh, thanks. Raonic took a brief injury timeout for his foot in the second set, but then he played the best stretch he has so far this match after that, so who knows. Novak is definitely in his head, career 11-0 before this one.

Agreed. I told my dad last night Raonic went into this match likely thinking “oh Novak is injured...it’s possible I might have a chance.”
Zverev has to be rooting hard for Raonic here, with Thiem and FAA out the top half of the draw would be his for the taking.

Gutty win for Novak, gets the late break in the 4th and closes it out.

Last year in the Quarterfinals Djokovic was a -833 favorite over Raonic. Today in the 4th Round he was a -225 favorite over Raonic. Wonder how many people parlayed Djokovic and Serena, who was a rare underdog in a major.

Oh please. He's making such a meal out of this. Of course now after every match he has to proclaim how he's not sure he'll be able to play the next one and how he wouldn't if it wasn't a Grand slam. What a noble hero.

Fuck. Novak. Djokovic.

He has always been whiny about his injuries. But, I love to watch him play anyways.

Feels like Pegula’s inability to convert one of those break points is going to come back to bite her. Hope I’m wrong.

Btw, I’m loving the army green and lemon yellow outfit she’s wearing. I’m surprised more players don’t do more with the considerable fashion leeway they have these days (Wimbledon aside, of course) — Serena does, and so does Nadal at times, but not many others.

I love her outfit, too! Pegula's been a pleasant surprise this tournament.
