Regarding MF8580CDW, Amazon reviewer says doing a scan on this thing takes 5 or 6 steps between PC and printer. Is this correct?

Can't be sure: I saw the reviews that have this problem. Some are dealing with connects to a Mac. In the others, we are not told which of the many ways you can connect are being used. I'm guessing they are connecting via ethernet in a network environment which seems to have been made rather cumbersome. I'm guessing none of these issues appear on a direct usb connect to a PC.

Laser printer bundle:
Canon LBP6200D B&W laser printer + Canon MF3010 B&W laser multifunction BOTH with promo code CANON50 = $100

Yes the page says promo code CANON40, but right now there's a CANON50 code that works. You get 2 good laser printers and one of them is a full lowend multifunction too.

Do you know what the AC power configuration is on these and other similar models? Are they like most laptops in that their AC brick can function as either a 110 or 220 when abroad without needing a transformer? I know someone in the Philippines and I'd like to send one over in a checked bag with a friend who if flying there. They have 220 power on their grid but the plugs' prong configuration is the same as the US. If not, what might my options be for getting a compatible unit to send there?

It's $160 on amazon too.
Thanks. That's what I thought but I figured you'd know for sure.Couperin47 said:
Printers, especially laser printers, draw a lot of current (the fuser has to melt the toner into the paper). Printers don't use external brick type power supplies because internally they use considerably higher voltages than 12-18v. Printers also pretty much never have switchable power supplies (110/220). There's no practical way to use US spec printers in that part of the world...sorry.

Nick Kaufman said:FWIW, I did a quick google search and apparently the 256GB Pro is only something like 4% better than the 250 GB EVO. But the EVO costs 40 less bucks so it seems to me the better choice unless you reaaaaaaally need that speed upgrade.

and the 850 EVO line now has a 5 year warranty just like the Pro, so unless you are going to really hammer these in an enterprise environment, the odds you can/will wear them out is nil...

The Pro has a 10 year warranty.

I hadn't noticed they upped the Pro line to 10 years, impressive but also silly: in my lifetime (which has spanned the entire history of modern computers) there has never been any storage product which has remained in any sense relevant for a decade...I'd also guess that a decade from now, should you need to replace a 250 Gig drive under warranty, the likelihood is Samsung won't even be making anything that small anymore.

SuperManny said:If you have a Micro Center nearby there is a coupon from http://www.retailmenot.com/view/microcenter.com which is $10 off any item of $50 or more. I used it twice already for my CPU and case by ordering online and then picking it up in store. Apparently the $50 minimum isn't enforced online so you can apply it to an item less than that although I haven't tried it myself yet.
