I believe there is almost no chance that Suh's suspension is lifted. The cases are not similar and the appeals process is probably the least similar component.

Agree with you about the Browns locker room.
So I guess we were each wrong in this thread, difference is I won't be an ass about it.

I originally didn't think he would be suspended. Once he was, I was sure it would be upheld. I was wrong on both counts.

I would say that the decision that was explained on ESPN was incoherent, but that's the NFL I guess.

Even if it was intentional. I think a suspension was too much. It was a douche move but almost no chance of injury.

I said this in the other thread, but to me it was pretty easy to see it was intentional. When  someone is walking backwards and they step on something the normal reaction is to turn around and see what you stepped on. In the videos shown on ESPN and NFLN, he took one step on Rodgers ankle, Rodgers then slaps at his leg to let him know "hey you just stepped on me" and then without turning around to see that he stepped on Rodgers ankle, he took another step on the  same ankle. If it was an "accident" why didn't he apologize or at least help him up?

Ah for whatever reason the clip I saw only showed the first step.

And I would answer yours and bigsoxfan's different questions with the same answer. Because he's a dick (Suh, not BSF).

Too add to your point, it's not just that he took the 2nd step. When he took that 2nd step, he also lifted his other leg and stood like that for a moment, so that all of the pressure was being put on Rodgers' ankle. He knew exactly what he was doing.

It's a reputation thing for suh.
Watching it live and the Joe buck repeats over and over at the time. The first is clearly an accident. The second looks far harder to know. If it was most anyone else they'd say accident and move on.
As its suh they assume the opposite. In slow motion it looks worse, of course. In real time intent is not clear. He is clearly not looking back or down, he could have been off balance. I think the fine and no suspension is the right move myself. Anyone else it's nothing.

Rodgers also thought it wasn't an accident. QBs get sacked and knocked down and hit on runs pretty often. How often do you see QBs getting up and getting in the face of a DL?

Can we put an end to this?

You either believe in rules or you don't.  In this case the rules were jointly negotiated between the NFLPA and the NFL.  They provided in these circumstances that Suh's slate was wiped clean by the passage of time.  Which means he had to be treated like any other player.

Now there is no way any other player gets suspended for this particular  transgression from a playoff game.  I don't care if the victim is Aaron Rodgers or any star.

If you believe the contrary, you're beyond reason and probably believe the sky is fucking pink.

The cynical aspect of this -- as I alluded to when making the appeal prediction -- is that the people in the NFL office do not care.  He or she was coming down with the hammer for PR reasons -- the same with Ray Rice penalty #2, which also was lawless and would be overturned on appeal (again, as some of us predicted).

Now if you don't like the rule, that's fine, but again that's a negotiated item between the NFLPA and the League.

But don't engage in a Zapruder like analysis of the tape to find a transgression not worthy of the punishment you'd like under the rule.  Just say you don't believe in rules.

Happy New Year.
