In a related note, Kate Upton's cousin plays lacrosse at Williams College and she has been seen at several of the games.

Gonna miss Verlander this time around.  Does this mean he'll be offering up his banter and analysis from the dugout on TV?

Ross against Sherzer?  Can someone explain without using a sample size smaller than 10?

It's more than just a binkie for Lester:

Maureen Mullen ‏@MaureenaMullen 19m
Lester:
2 GS w/AJ: 0-2, 3.86 ERA, 17H, 5BB, 15K, 1HR.
6 GS w/Ross: 4-2, 2.45 ERA, 30H, 8BB, 51K, 2HR, 44 IP.

That's less than 10 games but I guess they're sticking with that combo.

And the interesting part is that Alex Speier points out that AJP has very good numbers vs. Scherzer

Relevant part:

Interestingly, though A.J. Pierzynski has enjoyed considerable success offensively (.333 average, .324 OBP, .515 slugging mark in 34 career plate appearances) against Scherzer, the Sox have elected to have David Ross — with whom Lester has a 2.45 ERA, 10.4 strikeouts per nine and 1.6 walks per nine — behind the plate.

I really don't understand pinch hitting AJP there knowing Ausmus will bring in a lefty, and then leaving him in to hit anyway.

Apparently ONLY Farrell wasn't aware of this

Leaving Gomes on the bench there was terrible managing, no other way around it. Either leave WMB in to take his chances, or be ready to pull AJ if Ausmus counters with the lefty. That AB was the whole game, and it predictably took all of two pitches against the southpaw for AJP to hit into the DP.

I understand not wanting to burn your catcher, but if something happens to Ross, have Napoli catch a few emergency innings. It's not exactly a traumatic worst-case scenario.

After the game Farrrell said that Middlebrooks' hand was bothering him so he couldn't hit, and that if he'd double subbed and hit Gomes for AJP then there would have been no position players left for the rest of game if  anyone got hurt (Because Herrera was going to 3B for Middlebrooks).

Then wouldn't it have been a better move to PH Gomes, forcing Ausmus to stick with the righty, then setting up AJP to fail against the southpaw?
