Router question: TP-Link Archer C7

The Wirecutter, CNET and TechRadar all seem to love this router, which has both AC and N capability. The consensus seems to be that it's a versatile and powerful piece of equipment for the money. For what it's worth, a not insignificant number of Amazon customers disagree. Some gripe about a firmware-upgrade issue that's apparently been resolved; others complain about dropped connections or limited range. Have you had experience with this router, and if so, what do you think of it? Also, is it possible to purchase some kind of accessory that would allow me to take advantage of the router's AC capability? None of the devices in my household use AC.

As will be blazingly obvious, he knows what he's doing and he rips all units apart (literally) in the process of reviewing.

In the end he finds it to be a great wired router, it has the potential for really good wireless thruput, but poor wireless range.....so close bye it's great, even a bit further away and it's the worst of the current lot (edited...total failure is unfair...it's just dead last for range)

Edited because I was not being fair, now I've read the whole review.

Also remember to check their forum on this model, the people in there are not the clueless who simply have no idea how to set up a router, their results are by those who know what they are doing:  http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=13482

That site is so hardcore it's practically written in a foreign language. But I learned a lot. Thanks for steering me to it.

He has been told that innumerable times, hence the easy pick and other top ten lists for those who simply want answers. The equivalent site, but with lots more nerd humor, when it comes to power supplies is jonnyGURU.com.
