Is there any chance the contract took an edge off? I mean even a small lack of focus or relaxing a bit might get magnified at this level where teams like the Panthers have another gear.
Pasta carried the team to the regular season record so I'd say no. He is just having a Tatumesque playoffs, probably trying to shoulder too much of the offense and losing his game as a result.

Monty was absolutely what this team needed this season. But we are gonna be fucking awful for a decade starting next year.
Get the banner and it flies forever my friend. The next decade will be a problem for the next decade.

Did you see the from behind Tkachuk put on him in game 3? I’m surprised he got up.
And this has nothing to do with Florida. It’s the Bruins fucking up and turning the puck over on shit ice at home where every puck bounces weird and it’s pretty obvious that it’s in their heads.

Pastrnak totally fucked that offensive zone possession in OT that led to the goal btw. They were cycling beautifully and he skated himself into the corner and lost the puck.

and fuck the refs for calling two ridiculous penalties tonite as well.
Is it really too much to ask PLAYOFF officials to keep it in their pants unless they see:
  • High stick
  • Explicitly dangerous high or dirty hit
  • DoG or TMM
It really shouldn’t be this hard. To this day Game 7 against Tampa remains the greatest game ever called but still we’re subjected to these relentless jackoffs.

Then they would have cost the bruins two of their goals and they would have lost in regulation.

It’s very simple this series. When the Bruins don’t make stupid turnovers in their own end they win. When they make those turnovers, they lose. Clean it up and win Friday.

Literally yelled at my TV why in the fuck would you ever reverse the puck there given where the players were
I was talking to a goalie who played in the AHL about the play and he said the D is supposed to wall the forechecker off. Ullmark had nothing on his forehand and was trying to ring it around or muck it up in the corner but probably panicked and rushed it.

I would like to see a wide angle of the goal, sure looked like there were no Bruins and 2 Panthers on that side of the ice. Bad change on top of the Ullmark brain fart?

There was a panther on the wall if he rimmed it forehand and unsurprisingly it hopped off the boards and was on edge when he tried to backhand it. On replay it’s totally understandable.

The right play was probably to just leave it but man what a shitty bounce all around. Then not considering how he actually kicked the centering pass and it still bounced out to Tkachuk.

#88 is clearly lost. I'd stick him back with Bergie and Marchand and leave him there for the rest of this series. Freddie back in with Coyle/Hall. DeBrusk/Zach/Bert. Lauko/Nosek/Hathaway. Gryz back with Mac; Orlov and Cliffie. SlowMoFoBo to the moon baby, to the moon.

Pasta and Linus have been bad all series.

They’ve been horrible in their own zone all series.

This has not been an enjoyable start to the playoffs.

My concern about Friday is that Bobrovsky will get hot. He's more than capable of that and he was actually really good last night. The Bruins had 47 shots last night and only got 3 of them past Bobrovsky. I can see him having a GAME on Friday and even if the Bruins play well, the Panthers take a 2-1 win or something, making this a 7-game series. I hope the B's unload on Friday, but I can see something like this happening.

If the B's play a clean game it should not matter.

The only two Panthers wins have been because of stupid give aways. Play clean and smart and the series should be over.

Does protocol change in the playoffs?

OT losses only result in a change of game thread starter when it’s the first thread started by that person.

A loss after a win doesn’t normally lead to a change.
Oh, that’s a good question, I didn’t think of that. We’re going to need a ruling from a mod or a consensus from others, I guess.

Linus has not been bad at all. The defense has left him out to dry in a couple games.

What bugs me this morning is that if Marchand has maybe another second on the breakaway he can get in close and pull a move instead of needing to shoot from 25 feet. He made the right decision there, just galling that he was so close to ending the series for lack of another second.

Yeah agreed. That would have been a spectacular way to end the series, but he did need one more second. Ugh.

This. His worst moment was the insanity of deciding to play the puck last night. Otherwise, the goals he’s given up have almost all been point blank, as a result of the defense committing stupid turnovers, and being unable to clear the puck. I would stay with him for game 6.

He's been fine. But during the season, he was exceptional. They might need him to be exceptional again.
I think this is more a function of the defense playing its worst period of the year in Game 2 and hanging him out to dry repeatedly than anything. Separating his blunder from his goaltending, I don’t think there was much he could have done those other 3 goals.

OK I went and checked. The Bruins are 14-9 over the last 5 years in home playoff games (I didn't include the COVID bubble year for obvious reasons).

So they're not as bad at home as I thought. What stands out is 1-2 at home so far this year and 1-3 in the SC Final against St Louis. It's infuriating to see this team set wins and points records and them play like garbage at home in the playoffs. I don't know what's gotten into them but if they don't figure things out this is going to be the second-most disappointing playoff series in team history (behind the 3-0 blown lead to Philly in 2010).

There's no excuse for losing last night. They outshot Florida handily and should have won the game. But the stupid turnovers keep happening. I think Monty has been a godsend for this team but right now he needs to start taking control of this. Makes me wonder if they're complacent after their regular season success.

We keep saying "If they stop making dumb turnovers in their own zone they'll win." But they keep fucking doing so. And it's a very bad sign that they do.

God I'm so frustrated with them. They need to get their heads out of their asses.

Tbh I thought they had a propensity for turnovers in their own zone all year despite the record. Numbers might not support that but it was my main concern going into this run.

The sloppiness with the puck at home might have to do with the ice conditions getting in guys’ heads. It’s bouncing & sticking randomly everywhere.

Tremendous.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Elimination game at home with the captain back.

And they lose.

Frustrated sums up how I feel as well.

Stop fucking around and finish these assholes tomorrow night.

If it's any consolation, home doesn't seem to matter all that much in the NHL playoffs.
