Heartbroken to hear this. Ah man. Nothing to add that hasn't been said. RIP, Scott / Rocco.

RIP, Rocco/Scott

IMO SOSH needs a separate Valhalla forum for honoring posters like this when we lose them, where we can post memories and tributes. Maybe include meaningful athletes or media folk like Remy when we lose them too.

Thinking about Rocco's contribution to there being a separate Celtics forum here, could any of the powers that be imagine changing the sub-header on the forum to recognize him?

It's currently "Where every thread results in an unprotected first round pick."

With trader danny gone, is there something like "Where "having played/coached the game', advanced stats, and the memory of Rocco come together" that would work? Several of you are pithier than I....just an idea.

Very sorry to hear this, thank you for letting the community know. We've lost some good people here and it stings every time.

Well, Ike his namesake, he certainly could offend a motherfucker but he was a good and passionate dude. Really sorry to see this, I liked him.

“Here's the 911 call placed by New York Yankees pitcher David Wells moments after he was punched out during a brawl last September in a diner on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

According to prosecutors, the 6'4", 240-pound athlete was sucker-punched by Rocco Graziosa, a 5'7", 150-pound troublemaker now on trial for assault (during the 911 call, the 39-year-old pitcher describes his assailant as a "fucking Italian, little squatty-body motherfucker").

On the tape, Wells--who lost two teeth in the fight--repeatedly slurs his words, curses at the operator, and reports, "My emergency is I just got offended.“

Fitting that the original Rocco Graziosa was best known for an incident with a Big 3 (yeah, I know Wells was 33 for the Yankees, but that works too)

I really enjoyed lurking in the Port Cellar during the run of the Big 3, and Rocco was a huge reason why. RIP

Now that the initial shock is out of the way. Never mind, it's not. Fuck.

RIP Scott. I've missed his posts here for years, funny, insightful, passionate, just one of the good dudes of this place, and one of the reasons SoSH is what it is today.

I have his obituary, won't post it unless @AlNipper49 gives the go ahead, as I'm not sure the rules surrounding that, but if any folks that knew him want the info privately, I know who you are and I can pm along.

No information yet online about whether there will be donations for his daughter/charity, but will pass that along to the board if it's updated.

Didn’t know him but enjoyed his posts a great deal. A clearly knowledgeable fan. The “log” post always cracked me up.

RIP.

This sucks. He really loved the Celtics and seemed like a really good guy. Rocco’s Logs needs to be tied in to the forum somehow.

where I was last at
A sad day. I only knew the man through SoSH and he was a passionate and articulate poster who made solid contributions to our community. He will be missed.

To his family and close friends my sincere condolences for your loss.

Rocco may you rest in piece and have
a courtside view.

What terrible news. Definitely one of the few posters on SoSH, for me, that I have tangibly noticed being gone and wondered “whatever happened to?”because of the quality and passion of his posts.

RIP. 52 is way too young. Would love to be able to help out his daughter in any way that SoSH can come up with.

I’m waiting to hear back from someone on this. The only thing Scott would be worrying about right now is his daughter.

So sorry to hear this. While certainly not very active in here, I do remember Rocco and his longtime history on SoSH and always enjoyed his presence and posts. Prayers for his daughter and family.

This is very sad news.

Can someone who knew Scott/Rocco in real life either post or send me his obituary? If there is a GoFundMe for his family, or a scholarship fund set up for his daughter, I would like to contribute. Maybe we can do something on SoSH for the family.

I only knew Scott from Celtic message boards, first Stuckon16 (later named CelticsNuts), and on here. He was one of the most passionate and interesting posters on these boards, and from what I saw from him over the years, a great guy.

Someone who was running Stuckon16 decide to bounce me, for no reason, and when Scott took over a few years later, he triedto find me and invite me back. I was signed up on that site on an email that I was no longer using, and it was years later before we reconnected. He messaged me that he felt my banishment was BS, and that he was trying to reach me for years to invite me back. To expend such effort to find some random message board poster was the kind of guy Rocco was. A good man and a great Celtics fan left our world way too young.

Ha, ha. No. He didn’t do it. The guy whose name he chose did.

(I kinda want new people to think he did, I bet he’d love that.)

Someone can let me know if I was wrong but I believe Rocco started the game thread for game 6 2008 against the lakers.

edit: I don't think threads work very well in the WM but thankfully the opener is preserved in this case. Idk if it exists somewhere in the SoSH archive aether as well.
