Interesting. Perhaps a solution to the tone-deafness exhibited by the front office in the last couple years? Good for Edes I guess, I'll miss reading his stuff though.

That's awesome. I can only think of a handful of people that I'd want doing that, and Gordon is definitely on that list.

I wonder who will replace him at ESPN....
Who gives a shit? One less reason to give clicks and views to ESPN.

Congrats to Gordon. I'll definitely miss his writing. The list of reasonable twitter follows for Sox news and updates keeps getting shorter, unfortunately.

Can't say that's the DD move I was expecting to kick off the hot stove..That's a far cry from Carrasco.

Gotta be a dream job for him! Love his insight, hope he will continue to have a forum for sharing his in depth writing as well. Welcome aboard!

Congrats, Gordon. Hope your agent wrangled into your contract the use of JWH's yacht for a couple of weekends a year.

This sounds great for Gordon Edes.

There are not many level headed, clear thinking writers covering the Red Sox. He was one. He will be missed from that perspective.

This is great for Gordon, who has long been one of my favorite Sox reporters. Congrats!

I've always liked Gordon's writing for the Globe and ESPN and will miss him, but he did seem to be getting a little pissy at times as the team struggled for relevancy over the past two seasons so maybe it was time to move on from the beat.

As for who to go to now - Sean McAdam is solid for CSNNE, and Brian MacPherson has been doing some great work at Projo. Alex Speier is a great follow on Twitter and does good work at the Globe if you're willing to pay or limit yourself to 10 free articles a month.

You can also subscribe to Speier's free newsletter 108 stitches. He also links to other Sox related stories in it.

All good choices, and I want to emphasize just how good MacPherson is. Maybe he doesn't get quite as much attention because he's in a smaller-market paper, but this summer in particular he was just consistently excellent, coming up with a bunch of insightful stories with new and interesting takes.

I'm a big Tim Britton fan as well.

Hopefully Gordon can help produce some documentaries for NESN. Would be nice to have programming that isn't complete garbage.
