The Bruins have embarassed the city of Boston, the State of Massachusetts, the fans, championship teams of the past, everyone who has worn the black and gold, and orphans everywhere in the world wearing “Boston Bruins 2019 Stanley Cup Champions” t-shirts.
Well played. The Cs thread is jealous

Who would my buddy be? You show up to troll when the Bruins are losing and we’re calling you out on it. Is that hitting a little too close to home?
No, it’s just factually incorrect. It just feels that way because you have to knee-jerk defend their honor any time anyone posts something not wearing rose-colored glasses.

My main objection is that you’re both full of shit.

Who’s looking at things with rose colored glasses? I said they weren’t going to score on the power play series. I said if you don’t have to watch. You obviously can’t keep your posters straight.

I know exactly who you are. People talk about physical play and the Blues series, and the Bruins are blameless, because the refs and the league. You strawman discussions of physicality and toughness as if people are arguing that the Bruins should exhume the corpse of Bob Probert and clone him a bunch of times. I dare mention that the Bruins powerplay—which has been hot dogshit for a month—looks like dogshit, and you have to absolve them because Carolina has a good powerplay.

And then you and @cshea make up some bullshit about me coming to troll because the Bruins are losing. Obviously, you’re having trouble keeping reality straight.

So, I mean this quite sincerely, you can both go fuck yourselves with that bullshit.

Capping off a pretty awful game on his part. Would like to see a change there as well.
That line was a problem for a long time before tonight, and the big problem is there’s just no way you can break up any of the other 3 lines. So it’s either start putting spare parts (after McLaughlin, that is) into the lineup against a top team or just sit and stew.

Marchand is a problem. No idea what’s going on.
The drop off has been staggering. I know their top D pair is excellent, but he was erased tonight. There were so many rebounds and normally he would have pounced once or twice, but nothing.

Unless that changes or one of the goalies goes all Dryden, the going will continue to be rough.

The Canes just smothered the Bs. Was like watching a Hagler or Bernard Hopkins fight. Just wore them down and then picked their spots. Really neutralized 63-37-74 (though Jake looked good early). Gotta figure out how to counter Carolina’s D.

Boy this just isn’t a good matchup for the Bruins. Like, at all. Four games...total domination by Carolina all season long. Oof.

Is it more likely that Marchand is playing through something or just in a slump?

11 to 11 in scoring chances despite 36 to 25 in shots. Feels right.
Agreed. Without looking, I think some of that probably stems from the Bs pressing in the third, and Carolina capitalizing that evened it off a bit. But, outside of the first 10 minutes and a few flashes here and there after, the Bs got kept outside a lot, relative to their shot total.

It’s also the B’s getting a bunch of shots but from shit spots on the ice. I’m just eyeing it on the ESPN App but the first period chart looks good with shots in tight and gets progressively further outside in the second and third.

Sadly this is the last year we can blame Tuukka for anything. He doesn’t come back and the Bruins get Toronto. Good riddance finally.

Oh get over it dude. I was calling them like I see them. I only see you show up in the game threads when they’re losing.

I wouldn’t even know who you were if I didn’t see you constantly on the Covid thread (where I actually agree with most of your points by the way, even though I find the delivery insufferable).

Ok, I’m done feeding the troll for the evening.
See, this is why you’re full of shit. You can disagree with me all you want. The notion that I’m posting in bad faith, so I can get a reaction from whoever the fuck you are, because the Bruins lost, is nonsense.

OK, redirecting here (I hope). Curious about this— what makes you wish Hall had spent his whole career here? (I have my reasons— interested to hear yours).
At this particular point, it was a reaction listening to his press conference. Not too high or too low. Good discussion of his post “a couple inches the other way and it doesn’t even hit the post.”

More than that, his talent and attributes throughout his career in Boston, while the Bruins had the talent at center they had, really might have been something incredibly special.

Guy’s just got another fucking gear out there. Super fun to watch when he’s on.

There’s a real chance that, if both Edmonton and Boston could redo things, the Oilers should’ve taken Seguin instead of Hall, with both sides reaping benefits for it.

Oh dude, fuck off. He’s fucking wrong.
I don’t care, this ain’t Around the Horn where you get points for being right and getting the last word.

You’ve all said your piece and the points are clear. Now go make some witty saying on a white board like Woody Paige.

Thx both of you. I’ve often wondered this since the draft. Hall seemed like more of a Bs player. And Seguin less so. Maybe I’m wishcasting, but I’ve always enjoyed watching Hall play. Even when I get pissed at him (why the f don’t you just drive to the net?!) I get it. I Would have loved to have seen a Kreji/Hall combo (though thinking about that too much is not healthy)

Anyway, I hope that we get incredibly special Hall the rest of this playoffs

it makes sense. The B’s always had enough center depth between Krejci and Bergeron but were always short on the wing. The other what if this led me down is if the Bruins trade Krejci instead of Seguin and give Seguin the second line.

Do the Bruins win in 2010 without Seguin? Obviously we'll never know how much Hall would have contributed, but without Seguin they probably go down 0-2 to Tampa and lose that series.

You may be entirely correct. I was more thinking over the past 10+ years on balance. I wonder if having Hall all this time would have made a difference. . . Fuck it. Let’s get him his Cup this year

Even after I put forward the idea that both teams would’ve been happier had they swapped picks, I’ll give you another butterfly effect issue: what would drafting Hall have done to Brad Marchand? These were the forward lines Opening Night 2010 in Prague:

Lucic-Krejči-Horton
Wheeler-Bergeron-Recchi
Ryder-Seguin-Paille
Marchand-Campbell-Thornton

So, swap Hall for Seguin, and you’d need another center. Maybe Marchand loses out because you can’t send a kid like Hall back to Windsor, and you’re not ditching any of the other 6 wingers over this kid that’s barely ever played in the NHL.

Like gattman, my whole thought process was: if Edmonton drafted Seguin, then Boston Hall, are both happier from the start?

I don’t know if it’s Carolina’s game that just makes everything look boring, but there was no one with any edge or life yesterday except Hall. The game was obviously closer than the final score, but I didn’t feel like the Bruins and any juice or place where they really took it to Carolina outside of the first 5-7 minutes or a couple of shifts in the 2nd. But I guess it’s also tough to see that when you can’t get possession very often in the other end, but it’s hard to tell what is cause and effect there. But it didn’t feel like the Bruins were playing at playoff speed, especially after watching the 1st period of Wild/Blues after.

I'd feel better about this series if I thought the Bruins were going to get some more reliable goalie play. Two of the goals seemed like Ullmark simply didn't have his positioning right. (Niederreiter's and the one off his head).
