I hope this isn't fowl but figured a change of mojo would be good.

Some random talking points.

1) I don't have cable and haven't watched more than four games this year.
2) I don't participate in these game threads often but like to read them on my way to work the day after a game.
3) Protect the Civic
4) The Massachusetts Lottery is having some sort of contest about a Garden Dream Party.

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/03/25/new-lottery-ticket-offers-chance-to-win-seats-to-every-td-garden-event-for-1-year/

For a limited time, you don’t even need to buy a lottery ticket to win a TD Garden prize.
The Lottery is asking fans to describe what their “ultimate dream experience” at the TD Garden would look like.
“While every component of their dream might not be able to be fulfilled, one person will be chosen to win a TD Garden experience that is related to their Ultimate Garden Party Dream,” the Lottery said.
Entries submitted to ugpdream@masslottery.com are being accepted through April 7 at 5 p.m.

I think we all know what our collective dream party consists of.

Morning skate lineup...

63 - 37 - 46
17 - 51 - 88
21 - 34 - 18
23 - 11 - 25

Not big on the Krejci-to-wing idea but we'll see how it shakes out. I would move Soderberg off center. Also scratching Paille over Campbell...sigh.

Anywho, I believe. I don't want hockey season to end in 9 games. Win tonight.

Have you watched a game this season?

Anything is possible.
No, no.  Only anything shitty is possible this season.

Krejci toepicks by the boards, breaks his leg and slides into Bergeron and Marchand, breaking both their legs as well.  Campbell plays 35 minutes of ice time in each the remaining games to ensure a veteran presence.  He is a -100.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the innovation here, though I don't feel like Krejci's skill set plays all that well with Bergeron and Marchand.  Frankly, I think 88 would be a perfect compliment to those two.

I am a little disappointed that Claude puts Kelly on the LW on the fourth line when the clear right decision is to scratch Campbell and put Kelly between Paille and Talbot.  Not surprised, but disappointed.

I'm mostly OK with Krejci on the wing. I think it'll be Ok- Bergeron is more of a scoring center than a playmaking one. Krejci could be a nice compliment on that line. The options are fairly limited, so whatever. We're at the "throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks" point of the season.

Playing Campbell over Paille makes me wonder if the staff even look at the data available. The eye test says Campbell sucks. The data available makes this abundantly clear. I just looked at Paille's WOWY's....at ES (480 minutes) with Campbell, Paille's CF% is 41.4%. In 221 ES minutes without Campbell, Paille's CF% is 54.5%. Possession isn't the end all be all, but that's a pretty good indicator of who is dragging that line down. In fact evey single player on the Bruins is better without Campbell than with him.

The Campbell thing beaten down at this point. It is what it is, but there is very little justification for Campbell playing over Paille or anyone else. Fixing the 4th line won't solve all the Bruins problems and it may be like re-arraigning the deck chairs on the Titanic on the grand scheme of things, but it's frustrating to see them shuffle around the wingers while leaving the problem completely alone.

I agree that the Campbell thing is beaten down and that the fourth line isn't the only problem, but it makes you question the competency of the coaching and management when they make decisions that on their face have no defensible reason. Like you said, it raises the question of whether or not they are looking at any sort of statistics or measures at this point, and if they are screwing up the fairly obvious Campbell thing, where else are they missing? Is there a kid down in Provy that could help but they aren't giving that enough of a look because of Grit And Jam (tm)?

Outside of Versteeg, I can't really think of any that have left the B's and done much of note.  Roussel, Hendricks and Nate Thompson, I guess, but they're definitions of grinders and Roussel was passed around a bit before actually catching on.

I think Campbell over Paille is very defensible. He is a center winning almost 55% of faceoffs. Same amount of goals and only 1 less point in 7 less games. Campbell is a +2 to -9 for Paille. Willing to fight, even though he loses. Corsi looks worse but those WOWY stats need some context. Paille has played more minutes with better players and higher OZone starts than Campbell. Campbell only has 21.9% OZone starts when not with Paille to 43% OZone starts for Paille, when he isn't with Campbell.  Paille has played more minutes with Bergeron, Soderberg, Eriksson, & Lucic at a higher OZone start rate.

Paille's 81 minutes with Bergeron with 39% OZone starts vs Campbell's 16 minutes with only 13.9% OZone starts with Bergeron are the difference in their numbers. Remove that from both and Campbell is at 48.5 Goals For%, and 42.2 Corsi with only 44.3% Ozone starts. Paille is at 39.3 Goals For%, and 43.4 Corsi with 50% OZone starts. Similar numbers under tougher conditions with a much better GF% which is more important than Corsi%. That said I hope and think they are both gone next year.

Win!

If these teams played more than a few times a season, they'd hate each other.

In fact, I think they're on their way to that now.
