I vote Philly. With three World Series wins, Dombrowski gets into Cooperstown (he may get there anyway). Points for the snappy sports jackets.
I use the the same comparison.Rooting for the Astors in the ALCS was like I what I imagine rooting for Stalin in WWII was like; they're both abhorrent on many levels but still better than the alternative. But now that the Battle of Stalingrad is over go Phillies.
Top 3 pro sports mascot?I’m a huge fan of the Philly Phanatic. First ballot mascot Hall of Famer.
I have heard of 5 of them. Is that a bad thing? Anyway, I think it's nice to have their names near the top of the thread, so we know whom to grouse about.I have only heard of 2 of them. I think that's a good thing
Except that they haven’t really kept a core togetheres around postseason performance in baseball the way I do in basketball and
Cheating in 2017 or not, they've built and kept together an incredible and exciting core of players. Hats off to them. Now I hope Philly drags them around the field for 4 games.
Isn't Baker the really tall guy?Heard of Hoye, Iassogna, and Barksdale. Gibson and Baker sound familiar. I think Baker might be one of the better young umps out there, if I'm thinking of the right guy. Don't know Porter or Hoberg, who hopefully does not have to see the field.
The Phanatic is so far ahead of the field it's a struggle to come up with who's next.Top 3 pro sports mascot?
Please note my intentional use of the word "Pro" so as to not offend @Old Fart TreeThe Phanatic is so far ahead of the field it's a struggle to come up with who's next.
The Phoenix Suns Gorilla?
The original San Diego Chicken?
Gritty?
The Stanford Tree?
The Oregon Duck?
Uga?
None of the above would be top 3 even if college was allowed.USC Trojan
Mike the LSU Tiger
Aubie the Tiger
Hugo the Hornet
Ragnar
Jaxson de Ville
Masked Rider
Bevo
are all up there (in addition to most of Mugsy’s choices)
If someone says Youppi or KC wolf , I will cut them
Also Wally and Mr Met are overrated
The game was on MLB Network this week and I watched it for the first time.I watched every pitch of the 1980 NLCS between the Phillies and Astros. The deciding game was an all-time classic, as the Phillies won 8-7 in 10 innings.
Where is this going? When I started watching baseball, it was 3 days rest between starts for pitchers, then it got to 4. Is 5 on the horizon?Looks like Phillies will flip-flop Wheeler & Nola, giving Wheeler 5 days' rest (stats bear out he's been lights out on extra rest this season) while limiting Nola's rest to 9 days (maybe he threw a big pen on Monday or something?))

Verlander has à shockingly bad World Series record. We'll see. This is not a good start for Nola.
I was surprised when they put up his record in the WS.Verlander has à shockingly bad World Series record. We'll see.
You never thought you'd miss the days of Tim McCarver,, did you?Wait, Smoltz isn’t doing every game in this series, is he?
Probably. So, no Joe Buck?Wait, Smoltz isn’t doing every game in this series, is he?
Then Nola would have had ten days rest since his last start instead of nine.I know the data says wheelers era drops by 1.5 points with extrs day rest.., but he shoulda started today
