I guess the best news is that that's a bone. He could heal without much of a loss, so long as the muscle trauma isn't too severe.

I said this in the other thread but I wonder if this injury causes the NBA to pull out of the tourney.

I think it's unlikely because the NBA wants to be in the Olympics and they won't be in the Olympics if they don't do the FIBA championships.

Kinda my (admittedly undereducated) thought as well. Obviously will take a while, but that's gotta be a pure tibia fracture, with hopefully not much else.

I only know a bit from really fucking up my shin a few years ago. (Not to this degree, but well off-plumb.) Where's DRS when you (wish you didn't) need him?

I thought to myself " It can't be that awful, I'm gonna watch it."

It was that awful. I wish I hadn't seen that.

Poor bastard!

Definitely brutal, but you cancel the game over it?  Really?

Unless this is sarcastic, I vote for this being the dumbest comment in the history of SoSH.

That's the worst injury I've ever seen.  I once heard a teammate's elbow do that in college (football), but I didn't see it.  Still, though, I'll never forget the sound, or his arm bending the wrong way when he got up.

Horrible break for George and the Pacers.  In a damn scrimmage no less

I believe Radsoxfan is a Port Cellar dweller MD who could shed some light. There's just something more visceral to see these fractures as opposed to even severe ACL/MCL's. It's hard to grok that the prognosis can actually be better.

Would a hug help?  I think you need a hug.

I need people to stop making moronic comments about fact that they canceled the last quarter of a scrimmage when someone suffered a career threatening injury.

Windhorst reporting the stanchion was closer to the court (I know it's closer than in the NBA but I thought he said closer than FIBA rules?). If that's the case…I don't really want to follow that up.

Oh, hi. TELL ME EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE OK.

Well it was gruesome for sure, just hope for no major vascular or neurologic injury. It's basically the Kevin Ware scenario.

Not automatically career ending by any means, but I even if all goes well he isn't going to be back very soon.  Obviously out a big chunk of the NBA season at minimum.

Ware actually made it back in about 6 months, but had a setback and eventually had to redshirt the following season.

If people paid FUCKING MONEY to watch said scrimmage, I hope they were all refunded.

And yeah, you definitely need a hug.
If I was there and saw that, I would be leaving anyway. That's a fucking mood killer if there ever was one.

For some bewildering reason I decided to click on this link. I then saw the still they provided of his landing and immediately changed my mind. Jesus Christ.

Forget his career, I hope he'll be able to walk right after that.

Edit: minutes later and I'm not sure I'll be able to walk right after that. Bleugh.

If we think seeing it was bad, I can only imagine being near him and hearing it.

Considering the crowd cheered when Coach K cancelled the last 9 minutes of the scrimmage, I think they'll get over their lack of a refund.

Probably was a crack like a gunshot. Bones do that especially the big ones.

I dont have the stomach to watch it. (Never watched Theismann either.) Was the bone poking out?

Shows what I know: it's not closer in FIBA. Four feet backboard-to-baseline for both.

If Windhorst is right, and I hope he's not, this worries me more than the injury right now.

That stanchion was way closer then NBA standards, George assumed it shouldn't have been there and played accordingly. Ridiculous and sad. Lawsuits coming?

Do you really think the other players want to carry on with an exhibition game after seeing that?
