Bakette, the kids and I drove to Foxborough yesterday.  She was going to attend the clinic and I figured I would take the kids through Pats Place and maybe do Splitsville for dinner.

She said it was a really informative clinic. Especially for a mom like her who has been really hesitant to allow her children to play football. The main focus was obviously concussions, but they also touched on a variety of topics like conditioning, diet and stretching.  The played up that Moms play a tremendous role in their children's athletic careers.

They went so far as to introduce the moms to drills and have them try them.  I was never so proud (and she was never so embarassed) as she told me how she trucked a mom during a drill.

She was in Matt Patricias group.  She said he was super nice and was joking with her after she planted the other mom on her ass. Got a couple Selfies with him.  I can only imagine Bakette will now be used as a motivation tool this summer.  "Hightower.....I saw a mom hit harder then that..."  :)

Patricia, Chandler Jones, Solder (Interesting he was there considering his concussion history), (I think) Stork (or some other bearded lineman) and Slater where some of the Notable Players who participated.  She said that Solder was MASSIVE.  Like she knew Football Players where big....but he was HUGE.  And we have more then a few 6'2+ 250 + guys in the family.  Said his mom was on the committee for the clinic and was very nice, concerned and involved.

"Stork" was actually pretty cool.  We waited outside in the car.  Parked next to a nice but not ostentatious Pickup.  My youngest was kinda hanging out the window while we waited.  They let the players jet out about 5 mins before the end to let them clear traffic.  So I see a good sized dude come out the door the Moms had used to go in but he doesnt ring any mental picture bells....he walks up to the truck...turned to my 7 year old (to whom he was massive) and Said "Hey Dude....hows it going".   Just a throw away line....and he wasnt stopping to introduce himself or give autographs when 250 Moms (and their vehicles) were about to descend upon him and turn a quick commute into a 30 min one but it was nice.  And My son was super excited.

While Bakette was in ther Clinic we also hit the pro shop.  My oldest son was wearing his Official NFL Jimmy Garroppolo Jersey.  The girl working there nearly screamed when she saw it.  Mentioned how she wanted a Jimmy Jersey but couldnt seem to find one.  Said how he was super nice and mentioned how he had been in the day before (DAMMNIT!!) asking how come they didnt carry any of his Jerseys.  Almost was a really cool moment.

Nothing earth shattering or even really interesting to most.....but it was cool that both Boys got "close" to some of their "heroes".  Also nice to remember (and reinforce to the kids) that they are not "Cheating Villians" down there.  That they (the players, coaches who took the time and the organization)  like most people are pretty decent.

For any Dads with footballs players definitely something to keep an eye out for next year.  Completely free (Part of play 360 I think) and the Pats put on a good time with plenty of swag. Bakette said she recommended it to any concerned mom.

I will cross post in the Coaching Forum.   Feel free to delete if misplaced.

Great stuff, thanks for posting. It really is amazing how easily everyone forgets the basic man nature of people. Good to see the patriots continuing to give back to the community, even if there is a healthy dose of PR in anything like this (that pretty much every organization does).
