I'm penciling in Dunn for 35 right now. Fuck me I did not want to have Carolina play that guy.
First off, thank you for the congrats guys. Our first tournament win in a long long time. Don't even know how I feel......we played like shit, got bailed out by USC missing a ton of FT's, made some big shots, get royally screwed by some horrific officiating (nobody defends officials more than I but this was brutal), then somehow end up with a layup for the win.
Secondly, it's been pretty clear all season how to minimize Dunn's effect on the offensive end to take the pick-n-roll out of our repertoire where he is unstoppable. Simply play a 2-3 with the double shadow on Kris whether he has the ball at the top or is playing off the ball to find a seam. The only coach since December who failed to play predominantly zone was Thompson at Georgetown which not so coincidentally were our only 2 wins during the stretch when we lost 6 out of 8.
So what will Roy do? He's a notorious hater of the zone defense however even he has recognized that with the reduction to 30 seconds in the shot clock it is advantageous to play it and he has played more zone this year than I have ever seen him do (correct me if I'm wrong UNC guys you've seen more of his games than I have this year I'm sure). Will Stubborn Roy return so Kris can slice apart a college defense with a pick-n-roll for 40 minutes or will he humble himself to identify the best and most obvious way to slow down our offense? The result and/or score of this game lays in the answer to this question.
