Or, the ultimate respect. No one expects anything other than a blowout so they’re not making it a single slot CBS game.

It's actually perfect. Hurley can play the disrespect card in the locker room, but the true disrespect is on Purdue and Duke for anticipating their games being close.

Exactly. And they are correct.

Plus - and this isn’t a newsflash - the country would rather root against Duke / see Duke lose than UConn.

At some point I wonder if that tide will turn, like it has with the Chiefs. Though college sports are a bit different from pro sports in that regard.

Sometimes I feel like the more vociferous the announcers are about a call the more I agree with it. That looked like a push live and on replay.

Golden eagles are one of nature’s most ferocious raptors apparently.

They are also dinosaurs.

Buffs come out strong this half. Maybe some Coach Prime FaceTime in the locker room.

When the announcers say “don’t need a three,” the team they say that about (1) always needs a three, and (2) is 0-753 in the tournament.

Basketball really needs an advantage rule like they have in soccer.

If defense is trying to foul, but possessing team gets a pass off to a teammate, just let play continue.

I thought Marquette made a mistake. They had an uncontested dunk with 12 seconds left but took time and then had the one and one. I take the four point lead every time. But they converted the one and one so credit where it is due.

Every time Purdue launches a three before Edey even reaches the frontcourt drives me crazy.
These coaches totally outthink things. Edey is basically unstoppable at this level unless he’s double or triple teamed and he’s a good enough passer to hit open guys. That they run anything besides just letting him go to the block and shoot or pass from there is coaching malpractice.

I think the opposite. When I was coaching, I would tell refs that we are trying to foul so please call it. Because if they don’t call it, it encourages teams to foul really hard to drive the point home, and that’s where it gets dangerous.

If the guy fouls, call the foul.

Purdue is a terrible matchup for Utah State in pretty much every way.

I don’t get why Edey doesn’t want to come back for another year of this.
If he had the ability to take full advantage of NIL, he might have considered it. But, because he’s in the US on a student visa, he can only do NIL deals in Canada or passive deals.

Ah, did not know about that. I was wondering why a bunch of schools haven’t tried to get him to transfer.

Valid point that I hadn't considered.

I'm not a huge basketball watcher, so I really lean hard towards anything that shortens that last 2:00 in close games. Even if it's not the Elam Ending, there's still room for improvement.

They're 6-1, with the only loss being by Virginia in the First Four.

UNC: 2-0
NC State: 2-0
Clemson: 1-0
Duke: 1-0
Virginia: 0-1

TOTAL: 6-1

Do they not call traveling anymore?

If this Duke team is engaged, they’re a Final Four team. The whole problem has been drifting against weaker competition.
Well.. they've played Vermont and now JMU so far.

That and if they fall behind they tighten up and play noticeably worse. Maybe I'm wrong and the numbers don't bear it out but I've seen most every game they've played this year and they do not look good in those situations.

Personally my rooting interest is usually based on rooting against Duke and then rooting for whoever has alumni from my HS connected to a program in one way or another. At this point it’s Clemson, Grand Canyon, Marquette, Uconn and Arizona.
