Closed end three percentage 46.5 percent. Open 32.7. Teams shot toward their fans in second half so State went closed in second half, Purdue open, Alabama open, Connecticut closed.
Small sample and obviously I am struggling to partially rescue myself from my occam’s bullshit but if we get the choice, I would prefer to see Connecticut get closed end in second half on Monday. Might try to look at 2017 Glendale numbers later.

I watch both. But, I'll be that guy. The women's game is better right now and has been for years as now bball fans are starting to recognize.. More parity, more name recognition, more narratives, more innovation and diverse schemes offensively and defensively (and this one has been the case for many years)... simply put, the games are more thrilling with more anticipation..Also, the quarters and fewer TV timeouts add to it.
Both games would greatly benefit from Elam Endings but how do you commercialize those? We will never see it.

By what measure does the women's game have more parity than the men? I completely agree with name recognition and narratives.
Elam endings were first used during the summer basketball tournament "TBT" and have been commercialized for the last decade.
Edey needs like 50/25/5 and pick up 10 fouls on the Uconn centers in the first 32-35 minutes, while keeping out of foul trouble himself, for Boilers to win. Oh and Painter has to become the 2nd coming of Wooden. Not gonna happen. Congrats Huskies fans on the back to back.
This was my first question as well. I love the women’s game, but the one thing that I think it actually does not have is much parity.
Add it to the list of why the women’s game is so hot right now. Sunday midday on network tv plus non-stop promotion on espn vs Monday night at 9:20 on TBS… tbs, really?
Also I don’t see the parity on the women’s side at least when compared to the men’s game.
In every sport but the NFL, the biggest games of the year routinely near around or after midnight eastern time.
These things are unwatchable if you work for a living. It's a legitimate outrage.

The best 2 minutes of tv all year (most years, maybe not this one) is like at 11:40. (OSM)
Just following up on this. DDB Jr. ran the numbers so credit to him but the same effect was present in 2017.

So for the five games total:
Open 28.1
Closed 43.7
I think Perdue has to get clingan in early foul trouble to have a chance. Clingan has been outstanding at avoiding early dumb fouls over the last month ironically after Spencer yelled at him during a game for trying for so many blocks on every play down low.
Teams have done a good job hanging with UConn for a half but the kind of non stop movement UConn runs tires out defenders and it seems to be a matter of time - whether it be 25 minutes in or 30 minutes in where the opponent finally wears down and starts to break.
Should be fascinating early on to see how it goes. Perdue getting off to a hot start and putting UConn on its heels will be interesting. Although I hope like hell that's not the case

I think they are going to have to throw Johnson's five fouls at Edey and hope it doesn't hurt much on the offensive end.

When Clingan comes out Johnson needs to get his ass down the court to try and wear out Edey as best he can. Make him hustle

Yeah, I think that Johnson could be an X factor in the game by wearing Edey out when UConn has ball. Whether it be via beating him down the court, or running pick n rolls in half court set, I could see Edey getting tired especially when you combine with the banging that will go on when Clingnan is on the court.
Sounds like a recipe to lose. I can’t recall a situation at all this year where both clingan and Samson were out there together. Go with what’s been working. Edey is going to get his. Let it happen. It’s the other guys that I think will ultimately decide the game and UConn should have a very clear advantage at all other positions. They need to double him in spots with big down low and a smaller guard coming in to disrupt him. NC state was able to pull this off a little bit.
Cant risk having both Samson and Clingan out there picking up fouls. They get 10 fouls. They will need just about all of them. To maximize the use of the fouls you can’t have two big out there at the same time. Plus there’s fatigue/minute management. Clingan needs to be relieved by Samson to get the occasional blow.

Clingan definitely moves a lot better than Edey does. And Johnson much more so. They'll wear Edey down. On the other hand, Edey could get both of them in foul trouble and that would be a major problem for UConn. Even Clingan in foul trouble would be a problem, as Johnson can't handle Edey.
I think UConn should employ the same strategy they did against Brand in 1999 - once Clingan gets into foul trouble, quickly go to Johnson to make sure Clingan doesn't pick up his second too quickly.
