Reynolds says Jeter is "9th all-time in hitting."

What's that mean exactly?

Stupid bitch took 15 seconds too long because she had to show off her vocal acrobatics, and fucked up the timing with the flyover.

Good job, good effort.
You are so angry. It's a beautiful day today. A girl with a lovely tongue belting out our anthem, Harold Reynolds has a snazzy tie, Joe Buck talking about young studs...what's not to like?

Well, her and Bob Iger.

Joe Buck, who has literally spent his whole life around the game, just called Jeter a career .440 hitter.

Nice to see you in your happy place, CoRP. Tough year or two there.

This woman has an absolutely atrocious and annoying voice. She doesn't sing. She shouts.

And I'm sick of everyone having to put their own extra-special self-aggrandizing spin on the national anthem.

Just sing the fucking song in a straightforward fashion, assholes.
The gal last night was the best I've heard in a long time, even would say inspiring. Aloe Blacc was it?

It would be poetic justice if Jeter struck out leading off the game. Looking.

It just occurred to me the importance of batting him leadoff so he can't GiDP twice.

In the ASG he is.

Ah. That makes sense.

Except that's not what he said.
True, but he was responding to Harold saying he hoped Jeter wins MVP tonight.

We all know that Jeter is going to win MVP even if he goes 0 fer right?

Right, I get that, but this should be the scripted portion and he threw in the word "career." I mean, "Career .440 hitter in the All-Star Game" isn't a term. And fuck Joe Buck.

I think the excellent World Cup coverage really deepened my annoyance with how bad football and baseball announcers not named "Vin" really are.

Do SS normally play on the OF grass and I haven't been paying attention?

This is getting sorta surreal.

I think Reynolds was literally looking at the close-up replay, saw the closeness of the grass and decided it was the infield grass and was just... talking... with no memory of the play whatsoever.

Edit: I rewound it. I'm pretty sure that's what happened--he called Jeter close in.
