Now, YOU can play the part of a beat reporter!

A few years ago, we had the idea of having members "adopt" an MLB team and follow them all year, posting news items, series previews, and various other information that might be of interested to a message board obessed with the Red Sox.

In this thread, sign up for your muse...some are taken, due to time served or the existence of sub-obsession level fora, but if you just love the shit out of your Cincinnati Reds, here is your chance to add this love to the greater good of SoSH.

First come, first serve. Sharing is welcome. Lurkers can, of course, sign up, and this will be a good route to membership.

I keep meaning to start the Giants thread but I've been procrastinating. Last season's was pretty popular.

I'll give it a go later this evening if nobody minds.

I’m pretty sure lurker Sea Dog would love to start the Royals thread since he basically kept last years thread afloat, check the post count. And I would certainly help him out. I’ll send him a PM so he doesn’t miss this.

I grew up in Cleveland... went to that POS Municipal Stadium whenever the Sox were in town... followed the Indians because I was the neighborhood paper boy... I'd love to keep tabs on the Indians.

I'll take the Twins if that is ok.

Edit - I'm glad to share duties with anyone who wants to.

If more than one person wants to do a thread, you should team up.

Oh what the heck. I'll do the Nationals as long as I'm allowed to use my sarcastic biting humor destroying them.
If you dont want them I will take them.

Spending a year in DC made the Nats my NL team of choice right now

If not the Nats then I will take the Rockies

I'll start to follow a new team! I'll do LAAAAA if no one has claimed it, and I don't think they have what it takes to win the West this year and play us! However, I'm also open for Detroit or any other team not claimed. Just sign me up!

EDIT: Looks someone wants LAAAAA. I will do Detroit!

I would've taken the Tigers being in Michigan for at least half the summer and all, but I'll happily take the Brew Crew. It'll take me back to my little league days.

Nip, as we change the thread titles to update for news, will this be updated on SoSH Twitter/Facebook? I don't know if it's completely necessary, but I feel like I am made more aware of news that I wouldn't normally read through those SoSH news avenues.

I'll take the question, sach. I'm 99.9% positive that changing thread titles does not update the Twitter/Facebook feeds. They only post when a new thread is started.

I would have never bet that St. Louis would be the last team claimed.

Anyone? Bueller?

Skrub, I guess I was asking whether it should be updated on Facebook/Twitter. Perhaps it would be better if we outlined guidelines for changing the thread title (injuries, prolonged win/loss streaks, significant player contributions [e.g. "Ryan Braun leads the league in HRs"]).

Ah, I'll leave that to our newly minted MLB forum moderation team (abs/cr67).

However, I'm pretty sure it is only the Sox, Pats and C's forums that have the facebook/twitter link. The MLB forum isn't set up for that (yet - maybe).

Should I keep the Rays thread as a monthly thread (i.e:a thread for each month)? I did that last year to keep the thread from becoming the evil mega-thread. It also makes it easier to cross reference old news from earlier in the year.

Question for URI/those in charge. Are we trying to limit these threads to news only type threads, or are they open for (useful) commentary during the season?

I don't mind help with the Cards thread. I'm going to get a thread up soon but I'll gladly take any help anyone wants to post throughout the year
