Idk if there would be much interest in a 5-hour Red Sox prospect rankings reveal show unless I nab a famous co-host lol
You could do the 26-258 in about an hour. Ten at a time. Then a minute each for 25-21, a couple minutes for the next five, until you are up to five minutes each for the top five. Works out to about 2:30

I’ve got some time tomorrow afternoon . . .

After multiple minutes of diligence, here are my LIDOM rooting interests in order:

1) Estrellas - They drafted Miguel Bleis in the 3rd round & RIO is in the rotation.
2) Licey - Drafted YORDANNY in the 5th round & Cepeda in the 13th. Old friend Danny Santana is the lineup.
3) Aguilas - Drafted Asigen in the 16th round & former Sox DSL player Jhon Garcia in the 9th. Had those 3 former Red Sox minor leaguers on the roster.
4) Escogido - Junior Caminero & Franmil Reyes is fun.
5) Gigantes - I find nothing remarkable about this team.
6) Toros - The good: drafted Allan Castro & Narciso Crook is on the team. The dealbreaker: Dermody.
Ok, I might have to rerank the Toros... after all, I still root for the Red Sox.

Hernandez is interesting. Seems like they thought highly enough of him to not expose him when McGuire went down and we got Hamilton instead, does that mean they plan on keeping him around or what?

Honestly not sure. It's a bit of a weird situation because he's out of Minor League options so if they're scared to lose him, they would have to keep him on the MLB team all year. Feels like they should have thrown him out there last year & given him a shot. It's not like they don't have 5 fungible pitchers on the 40-man roster. But maybe there's some master plan I'm just not quite understanding.

Just posted the updated rankings:

The Hickey stat has me curious about all the catchers in the org, so let's put them all in one place. I did the main DSL ones yesterday, but will add the others. The stat at the end is the # of innings per error + PB (higher #s good). I'll tentatively call it "IPEP" & round it to the nearest whole inning. I believe this is everyone on the list who caught at least 50 innings this season. Will use this to inform my relative rankings some. To a large extent I think I already have it baked in less formally on most guys, but it really shows just how bad Hickey & Scott are with the running game & how they probably do not have a future at catcher. The fact that Enmanuel Martinez (#200) & Daniel McElveney (#204) caught like 20 innings each this season despite I believe being healthy is a pretty good indication that they are both ranked too high.

(#166) Elih Marrero (AA): 289.1 innings, 26 steals, 16 caught stealing (38%), 4 errors, 3 PB (41 IPEP)
(#86) Kleyver Salazar (DSL): 234.2 innings, 35 steals, 20 caught stealing (36%), 1 error, 8 PB (26 IPEP)
(#54) Andruw Musett (DSL): 216 innings, 30 steals, 16 caught stealing (35%), 5 errors, 4 PB (24 IPEP)
(#256) Anger Romero (DSL): 75 innings, 20 steals, 11 caught stealing (35%). 3 errors, 5 PB (9 IPEP)
(#80) Gerardo Rodriguez (DSL): 136 innings, 18 steals, 9 caught stealing (33%), 3 errors, 2 PB (27 IPEP)
(#225) Diego Viloria (FCL): 128 innings, 20 steals, 10 caught stealing (33%), 5 errors, 5 PB (13 IPEP)
(#12) Johanfran Garcia (FCL/A): 259.2 innings, 41 steals, 19 caught stealing (32%), 6 errors, 4 PB (26 IPEP)
(#3) Kyle Teel (FCL/A+/AA): 166 innings, 29 steals, 12 caught stealing (29%), 3 errors, 3 PB (33 IPEP)
(#121) Alex Erro (A+/AA): 395.2 innings, 48 steals, 20 caught stealing (29%), 9 errors, 5 PB (28 IPEP)
(#156) Frederik Jimenez (DSL): 70 innings, 17 steals. 7 caught stealing (29%), 2 errors, 2 PB (18 IPEP)
(#78) Enderso Lira (A): 495.2 innings, 117 steals, 43 caught stealing (27%), 16 errors, 11 PB (18 IPEP)
(#228) Liosward Marin (DSL): 146.1 innings, 34 steals, 12 caught stealing (26%), 3 errors, 5 PB (18 IPEP)
(#63) Ronaldo Hernandez (AAA): 430 innings, 45 steals, 15 caught stealing (25%), 7 errors, 5 PB (36 IPEP)
(#34) Brooks Brannon (FCL/A): 75 innings, 21 steals, 7 caught stealing (25%), 1 error, 3 PB (19 IPEP)
(#189) Juan Montero (A): 192.1 innings, 42 steals, 13 caught stealing (24%), 6 errors, 3 PB (21 IPEP)
(#134) Yorberto Mejicano (A): 113 innings, 33 steals. 9 caught stealing (21%), 4 errors, 1 PB (23 IPEP)
(#82) Ronald Rosario (A/A+): 610.2 innings, 130 steals, 30 caught stealing (19%), 19 errors, 14 PB (19 IPEP)
(#215) Matt Donlan (A+/AA): 50.1 innings, 9 steals, 2 caught stealing (18%), 2 errors, 2 PB (13 IPEP)
(#41) Stephen Scott (AA/AAA): 520.1 innings, 86 steals, 13 caught stealing (13%), 3 errors, 12 PB (35 IPEP)
(#24) Nathan Hickey (A+/AA): 646 innings, 129 steals, 10 caught stealing (7%), 12 errors, 7 PB (34 IPEP)

It's sorted by caught stealing %, but that's a bit of a red herring with the DSL guys. For reference purposes, JOHANFRAN threw out 45% in the DSL in '22. On the SP pod they were mentioning that Marrero would probably be in AAA next year for his defense, along with Scott & next year's version of Caleb Hamilton & they expect Hickey to start in AA again (& suggested he work on his 1B & LF skills).

Just skimming the Red Sox Fangraphs roster page while looking for something else...

https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/red-sox

Having Marvin Alcantara as their #8 Red Sox prospect is quite a limb to be out on...

The page lists their top 9...
1) Mayer (#16)
2) Bleis (#27)
3) Rafaela (#31)
4) Yorke (#68)
5) Anthony
6) Teel
7) Drohan
8) Alcantara
9) Wikelman

Kind of at a loss on this. It has to at least be somewhat updated as it includes Teel? Alcantara had an 82 wRC+ in FCL this year & 58 in A-Ball.

Nice little piece on JOHANFRAN.

He started catching because his dad was a softball pitcher. & his favorite player growing up was Salvador Perez.

Garcia gave an interesting reason for Pérez, a five-time Gold Glover and four-time Silver Slugger, being his favorite player growing up. It’s not just because he’s from the same city or because of the catcher’s all-around game as a hitter and defender.

“The leader role,” Garcia explained about what he likes most about Pérez. “I’d like to be the captain of the team and bring out that joy and lead by example for the whole team.”
For some reason I think it's cool that ERC was translating for him.

He said he wants to add strength this offseason.

“I’m trying to focus on the physical aspect,” Garcia said. “I want to be more flexible. And besides that, I want to work on my mental game. Be ready for next year for all those games.”

Nice piece on C Note, too.

Rafaela had only 13 extra-base hits in April and May combined. He batted just .228 in May. But he began relaxing after receiving some advice. He took off in June (.364/.381/.584/.965 line), then stayed extremely hot for the rest of the season.

“I talked with some teammates, some veteran guys, that tell me, ‘Just be you and do what you’re capable of, what got you here,’” Rafaela said. “So just keep being aggressive and just work on it. Not think a lot about it.’”
Rafaela considered playing winter ball this offseason to get more experience at second base. But he will spend his time working out in his home country of Curacao.

“Just focusing on coming into spring training trying to get the most ready I can get in the offseason ... and try to make the team,” Rafaela said.

Still haven't been able to find anything substantive on Bonaci's placement on the restricted list. I did accidentally come across the policy he was suspended under & the related procedures & process...

I. Definitions.

Domestic violence
is a pattern of abusive behavior in any intimate relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. It occurs in heterosexual and same sex relationships and impacts individuals from all economic, educational, cultural, age, gender, racial, and religious demographics. Domestic violence includes, but is not limited to, physical or sexual violence, emotional and/or psychological intimidation, verbal violence, stalking, economic control, harassment, physical intimidation, or injury. Notwithstanding this definition, a single incident of abusive behavior in any intimate relationship, or a single incident of abusive behavior involving a female member of a Player’s family who is domiciled with him, may subject a Player to discipline under this Policy.

Sexual assault refers to a range of behaviors, including a completed nonconsensual sex act, an attempted nonconsensual sex act, and/or nonconsensual sexual contact. Lack of consent is inferred when a person uses force, harassment, threat of force, threat of adverse personnel or disciplinary action, or other coercion, or when the victim is asleep, incapacitated, unconscious or legally incapable of consent.

Child abuse is any act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation of a child who is under the age of 18 or not an emancipated minor, or any act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of such harm to such a child. This policy covers acts of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault (together, “Covered Act”) as defined above.

Appreciate the kind words, though. I have been idly thinking about ways to meld my new addiction to Red Sox prospects to my business that would help increase profits & generate interesting content on both, but not sure I see the marketing connection with Las Vegas divorce.
as long as your hard work and efforts in this forum do not lead to divorce for you!
here’s another note of thanks and appreciation for all you do. I sometimes get a week behind in this thread and look forward to catching up on news, musings, and all the other content you share with us. Thanks so much!

Listened to this on Spotify. Weirdly edited with no intro or outro, & it wasn't a very inspiring interview, but I came out of it feeling pretty ok about Rogers.

Nice article on '23 Red Sox draftee Justin Riemer, MI, who is recovering from an ACL tear. He's the Eovaldi comp pick.

“Although the ACL was a tough thing to happen, I think it was a blessing in disguise,” he said. “I’ve learned a lot from it. Just handling adversity and things like that. I think going through an injury and a long rehab process like this just will really toughen my mental side of the game, which is really something I’ve been trying to work on a lot. So I’m looking forward to taking that new mental strength into my actual game.”
Riemer drew 46 walks and struck out only 14 times in 56 games (233 plate appearances) at Wright State. He finished his collegiate career with a 19.7% walk percentage and 6% strikeout rate.

“In college, I really focused on making contact and hard contact as much as I could,” he said. “My focus would always be to try to hit line drives over the infielders’ heads and then react from there.”
“I would say I’m very fundamentally strong,” Riemer said. “I was working a lot on arm strength and stuff like that my last few years in college. So those were starting to tick up. And that’s going to be something I continue to work on. But I would definitely say I am pretty fundamentally sound out there.”

& here's another one from Christopher Smith on YORDANNY.

“Bello is a big motivation for me,” Monegro said through translator Jarrett Pico during the Red Sox’s Fall Performance Program at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers in September. “When I was in the DSL, I used him as an example and role model. And then during instructs that year, I was actually roommates with Bello for that instructional period.”

“I’ve known him since 2020 so I feel great for him,” Bello said about Monegro through translator Carlos Villoria Benítez. “He can throw hard. He has good command and he’s a nice kid.”
Monegro has big goals, including joining Bello in the Boston rotation next season.

“One of my goals for next year, hopefully with the help of God, is I can be a big leaguer,” he said.
He began throwing the two-seamer and cutter this year. Walter Miranda, a pitching coordinator in the Red Sox system, introduced the two pitches to him during spring training.

He already considers his cutter his third best pitch after his four-seamer and curveball.

“It has like a half inch to one inch of horizontal break,” he said.
“During the tryout process, I still wasn’t throwing too hard because I kind of had some elbow issues,” he said. “And then when I tried out for the Red Sox back in the D.R., I was able to top out at 92. After I got signed that summer, I was able to hit 96. So kind of my first year in the D.R. in pro ball was when I saw that velo take that jump.”

Joey Stock, who recently turned 26, was my #247. He has an 8.31 ERA in 34.2 IP in High-A this year (albeit with a 4.26 xFIP).

His main downfall was 7.01 bb/9. He was signed for $20k as a UDFA after the truncated '20 draft.

Oh...I guess it's because it's not new news. He signed in mid-September & they're only just now adding him - probably due to roster limitations.

At the Under 18’s World Cup just passed, Adam posted a 3.00 ERA in three appearances and opened the tournament for Team Australia going toe-to-toe with one of the highest-regarded pitchers in the competition, Yi-Lei Sun. Bates has also been an impressive player in our local NSW State League competition, playing First Grade for the Macarthur Orioles who finished runners-up in the 2022/23 Season. He was also a Sydney Blue Sox development player in the ABL.

I wonder what the offer was. The last 4 signings are all listed as "N/A" for the signing bonus, but that seems somewhat unlikely, especially in this case?

He had considered going to college in the US, but was swayed by the Red Sox and signed with them instead.

“This offer was the deciding factor to head straight to pro ball. The Red Sox have a reputation for producing high-class athletes ... it’s a lifelong dream,” he said.
