What the fuck is he talking about?

"They need to double him over at least, don't even need to hit him."

Hey dude, you tried that Tuesday night. The next pitch was caught by a degenerate in the bleachers.

The vehemence in his voice is really extraordinary. You'd think Big Papi had done the most despicable thing in baseball history by flipping the bat the other night.

Classic moment. Caller brings up the point that Rickey Henderson flipped a bat or two in his day, Mike immediately asks if he's a Red Sox fan. Caller says yes. Mike launches into an attack quoting Kay, Yankee players and Yankee writers who thought it was a big story and a disgrace and then hurries the caller off the air. Good argument, Mike.

I was one of those who used to believe that it was Mike who kept Dog in line. Obviously, they had that effect on each other

Oh baby -- this is going to be great. A few guesses:

(1) Angry at umps for not throwing Beckett out after he hit Granderson on the foot
(2) Angry at umps for giving warnings after Ortiz was hit instead of letting MFY hit one more batter
(3) Kills Swisher for play on Lowrie's "triple"
(4) Angry at Yanks for forcing fans to endure 3.5 hour rain delay

Not sure: does he go after CC for not finding a way to get through the 7th on a night when "they needed the stoppah to step up?"

Just watching the highlights, Ortiz still looked pretty comfortable at the plate last night. I guess finally throwing at him was not the panacea Mike expected.

Mike drove home the point that plenty of players had spoken out against the flip, so the caller asked who they were. "Al Leiter said so right on this show, and Paul O'Neill told me in the hallway."

In the hallway. Really. Well, that's certainly "speaking out on the subject". No chance O'Neill was just trying to get past you in the hall, and the path of least resistance was to just agree with you and tell you what you wanted to hear......?

For the record, IIRC those are the only two he named specifically, as he cut the caller off.

Mike got his wish last night, and a lot of good it did him. All of this brush back Ortiz junk really takes me back to 03-05 when he was really destroying the Yankees. Remember when Clemens said he looked "comfortable" at the plate in 03, Roger said he might have to do something about it but he never did.

Just a warning: Mike is scheduled to broadcast from Belmont Park today because of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday so it would be perfectly in character of him to completely ignore last night's game. He could do 5 straight hours of horseracing talk which is a sure cure for insomina. So if you are expecting 5 hours of Yankees talk, you will probably be disappointed. My guess (I could be wrong) is that he'll mention it briefly at the open, then go straight into the horses.

As promised, I'll stream the opening hour as long as he talks Yankees.

Here's my channel: http://www.justin.tv/hulkhands2004

I'll post the exact link around 1pm.

He'll cover the game for at least the first hour. And if he's only doing an hour or so on the game, he's gonna make sure that hour is epic.

It will still be a must listen.

For the record I think he'll be unhappy that Ortiz didn't get plunked in the upper body instead of the hip and that once the warnings came out Ortiz felt like he could do whatever he wanted in future at bats as long as the game was close. So he'll be pissed at the warning. Don't think he'll go after CC for pulling an AJ and not coming through when they needed him most. I don't think he has the cajones to do that.

You know the scene in South Park where Wendy is about to kick Cartman's ass and Butters is giggling in total glee? That's what I'm like right now.

Someone please, please, please record this for me.
Yeah, I'd love that too. It couldn't have played out any better--they took his dopey suggestion to hit him and Ortiz still drove the nail in their coffin anyway.

And Bonger, you're killing it with the new avatar btw.

My prediction is he doesn't freak out two days in a row, and he won't be mad at Sabathia like he was at AJ. I'm hoping he blames it all on Swisher fucking up, that would be splendid.

"No one said that hitting Papi would make him hit .210" Except you, Mike

"Give the Red Sox credit"

Not mad today. "Red Sox have shown themselves in June to be the superior team in every way"

He blew his anger wad yesterday, and that's not surprising, given that Burnett was awful and that there were so many bad mistakes (Cervelli's errors, Gardner not scoring on the wild pitch, etc.).

Still, defeated Francesa is still fun.

Sox are the superior team right now in every respect (but doesn't seem at all worried) but let's see where we are when they play again in early August.

He pities the Tribe this weekend: Yankees will be so pissed off that they'll take it out on the Indians in a major way.

Rather disappointing 10 minutes so far......
