this is a horrifying read and if MLB's investigations verify this info, he needs to be punished the same as Bauer.
Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger is under investigation by Major League Baseball following allegations of domestic violence involving the mother of his 10-month-old daughter and child abuse.

Olivia Finestead, the 24-year-old mother of Clevinger’s child, told The Athletic on Tuesday that she has been in contact with individuals from MLB’s Department of Investigations since this summer. According to Finestead, she has detailed to those investigators incidents of physical, verbal and emotional abuse, including an incident from last June in which Finestead said Clevinger choked her, and another about two weeks later when she said Clevinger slapped her in a hotel room when the team was playing the Dodgers and threw used chewing tobacco on their child.
Clevinger, 33, reached via text message said his agent and lawyer would contact The Athletic. Asked for an on-the-record statement before publication, Clevinger’s agent, Seth Levinson wrote in a text message: “We need to fairly and thoroughly protect our client and at the same time be respectful of the White Sox and MLB. We need time before responding.”

Nothing boils my blood more than when I hear of a baby getting abused. My daughter just turned 1 and the thought of someone hurting her...my gosh.

"We need to fairly and thoroughly protect our client" is a very weird thing for an agent to say in response to a request from a reporter for a comment on a domestic violence allegation story.

I guess it's truthful. But "our job is not to give you accurate information but instead of figure out the absolute best way to protect our client, so we are not going to respond right away," is really fucking weird.

It's not thier job and not so different than what a lawyer would say.

I don't think it's a thing a lawyer would say, though. I would never say that.

It's entirely nonresponsive. It also sounds like an admission of guilt -- we can't respond right now because our job is to protect our client? Just say, "we will not be responding." Or "we need to look into this."

It almost sounds like marketing. "Hey, prospective athletes, if you beat the shit out of your partner, we'll have your back."

"We're running a story that your client threw chaw on his infant, do you want to comment?"

"It's our job to protect our client."

Don't get.

Since itt was his agent, not his lawyer. I'm guessing they aren't as adept at this part of the gig. You know, defending pieces of shit that hurt babies.

Clevinger’s ex-girlfriend? (Baby mama #2) is going scorched earth on her Instagram stories. It’s hard to keep track of who is accusing who because her posts are all over the place, but she is talking about Clevinger using cocaine, and saying Jake Cronenworth may have heard the abuse at the hotel. She is threatening to release videos, and suggesting other players wives knew he was abusive. This could get real ugly.
