The thing about Rahman is after he knocked out Lewis - and the narrative was lucky shot and untrained Lennox too busy making movies with Pitt and Clooney - his people let him down and didn’t notice the rematch was rescheduled for Ramadan. So, he’d been fasting all leading up to the fight.

Really good fighter. In that Riddick Bowe category of what if great American heavyweights.

Phils beat the Rangers 5-2 behind Ranger Suarez, who went 7 IP 5 H 1 ER 2 BB 10 K to go 9-0 with a 1.36 ERA. He becomes the first Phillies pitcher to start a season 9-0 since...GROVER CLEVELAND ALEXANDER in 1913. (This is among the reasons why I love baseball.)

The Phils are 27-6 over their last 33 games.

Watching the Pirates-Giants game for Skenes. They interview a fifth-grade teacher who's there with his class, all in Skenes' staches. The reporter asks one of the fifth graders what he likes the most about Paul Skenes, and the kid answers, "His mustache and LIVVY DUNNE!"

They grow up so fast.

Pirates up 5-1 on a Joey Bart grand slam.

Absolutely bizarre call to end Orioles vs White Sox. 1st and 2nd, 1 out, Orioles have allowed 4 in the 9th already to make it 8-6. Routine pop-up between the mound and shortstop. Andrew Vaughn is on second, and as he walks back to the bag he unknowingly gets in the way of the shortstop just a bit, but he still catches it, plus it's infield fly. Umps rule interference, game over.

That was really bad. I wonder if the White Sox file a protest.

I've seen interference called to end an even closer, more important game. But Papi and Koji made it all turn out okay in the end.

In the box score Kimbrel gets a save for pitching .2 innings yet has no groundouts, flyouts, or strikeouts.

Most famous bad calls (Don Denkinger, the Offerman missed tag, Galarraga’s perfect game and the Cards-Braves infield fly, for example) were just bad judgment but you could understand why they were made. This was completely inventing something out of nothing - Vaughn did the same thing as every other person in the history of baseball in that situation and it’s never been called. It’s guilty until proven innocent-level match fixing, and by an umpire who wasn’t even the closest to the play.

The Mets are also very fun to watch but from the opposite direction. 6-2 Mets after 7 is now 8-6 SF with the Mets coming up in the 9th, Patrick Bailey grand slam in the 8th with two outs was impressive.

And the Mets lose after Chapman makes a great barehanded play with the bases loaded and two outs.

That is a brutal loss for Mets fans.

Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor and David Fry go back-to-back-to-back. Jose has been locked in for the last month. He's had some hand problems the past two years and the theory is he's figured out it's fully healed. He should pass Manny Ramirez on the all-time Cleveland RBI and home run lists soon. He trails him by 9 rbi (8th place) and 6 HR (3rd place).

The AL West has been so brutal that the Astros are closing back in on 1st again, just 3 1/2 out.

Since 2000, there have been six MLB players with a .500+ OBP through their first 100 plate appearances of a season:

• Mark McGwire (2000)
• Jason Giambi (2001)
• Barry Bonds (2002, 2004)
• Lance Berkman (2004)
• Joe Mauer (2009)
• David Fry (2024)

Royally impressive. KC has scored 8 runs or more in 5 straight games.

Giant comebacks. SF has won 3 in a row overcoming 4 or 5 run deficits in each game.

79 multi run innings for the Guardians. Most in MLB.

Padres haven’t scored in 3 of their last 5 games.

Jeez. To the point of those prior posts, after giving up 5 in the 10th today the Keystone Mets fall to 21-30.

Ton of guys who will be free agents on that team: JD Martinez, Pete Alonso, Severino, Harrison Bader, Ottavino. Could be an epic fire sale.

Last two games combined, Mets 8-3 after 7. Giants 12-1 after that.

Logan O'Hoppe is the worst catcher I've seen in a while. Last night he was costing his pitcher strikes by stabbing at breaking pitches at the knees and dropping the ball. Now tonight he just chased down a ball that bounced in front of the plate and deflected off him back towards the mound, leaving home plate wide open for Brayan Rocchio to scamper home from third.

Wild DET/TOR game:

DET up 5-0 after 3.
TOR storms back and goes up 11-9 in the 8th.
First two DET batters in the 8th get out, but the next three single/double/single, tied at 11.
TOR brings in their closer Romano in the 9th, still tied at 11:

1B
sac bunt (1 out)
ground out (2 outs)
IBB
walkoff 3 HR by Matt Vierling, final is DET 14-11.
