That wouldn’t have been on Kelleher directly but you wonder if they’re also missing Alisson’s organization at the back.

Ream was offside, but that's a tidy finish for a full back's fullback.
Well offside but a bit concerning how easily they’re getting sliced open by the likes of Fulham.

Ill subscribe to the missing-Alison -as-QB theory

The 718
Even though Pool has commanded play, you might say they’re fortunate to be level, their goals are two worldies that don’t often find the back of the net.

After a length VAR, Mudryk award a pen for going down from Milner’s arm. Weak stuff.

All 4 goals from outside the box? That Trent one just barely but that’s incredible

I struggle to let him off the hook. He’s going to have a double-digit gap between xG and goals at this rate and not in the right direction.
I think he’s a winger for a reason and playing him centrally highlights his shortcomings. But that’s too deep for this game. That and I’m trying to will him to be great somehow.

Not sure Liverpool deserve all 3 there but I will certainly take it.

Also a good game for USMNT as Ream and Jedi mostly kept Mo in check

If this game was Olympic diving, Liverpool would have won by 5. The degree of difficulty in their goals were off the chart today.

Another comical VAR event today. Levi Colwill leaps in the box with his arm in a classic “unnatural position” angle, but the ball clearly smacks him in the head, not anywhere on the arm. Result is the ball out back for a corner, which appears correct. But then VAR jumps in, recommends an onfield review, which continues to show the ball hit the head and not the arm. For some reason, the ref appears to point to the spot, and the “Decision: Penalty” text appears on the TV broadcast, but then ultimately the result is no penalty and, instead of a Brighton corner, it’s a drop ball restart, which seemingly no one can explain. Just a bizarre sequence all around.

I thought the ref called penalty on the field and then VAR told him to look at the monitor because he might’ve got it wrong

I’m seeing reports now to this effect, in which case it would make a whole lot more sense; it seemed the announcers must have missed the initial penalty call (or I missed them mention it, but they seemed just as confused).

Edit: in which case Brighton should still feel slighted at not getting a corner in a key moment, but with their ire directed at the ref, for blowing it dead early on the erroneous penalty, rather than at the VAR.

Not surprisingly, an Emerson-Davies CB pairing is just not good enough against City.
