Isn't Kyrie like the only non vaxxed player in the league? Maybe he isn't but I can't think of any others, and him not being around hasn't exactly done much to stop the spread from hitting pretty much every team lately.
Richardson on the Celtics wasn’t vaccinated either. Least I believe he wasn’t

I don’t think so. I think NYC rules are why it is a prominent story.

I know Brad Beal wasn’t but do not know his current status.

Wiggins played in NYC this week he’s vaccinated

Edit: beaten by scotty
I forgot that the mandates only apply to home players, unvaxxed players can still play in NYC and San Fran. Wiggins had to get it or he would have had to miss home games, he still could have played in NYC and other road games if the warriors would have let him.

Your going to get a lot of pushback but I get what you’re saying from the Nets POV, “we were keeping Kyrie out of here so we don’t get covid and we all got covid anyway? Fuck this, bring him back”
Pushback is fine it are those who misinterpret my point (which in fairness I don’t always make clear) that are annoying and imo ignorant. Thank you for not being that person in understanding my point here. It is one that is currently happening outside of the NBA as well during this holiday season in many families.

All I’m saying is that none of his teammates are going to refrain from high-fiving and hugging Kyrie in the same way they would any other teammate bc he’s not vaccinated.

How does this allowance work against the new NYC vaccine mandate for all businesses that goes into effect on 12/27?
I thought they had gotten around it by saying it was a gym or some such euphemism. But it seems the new mandate is comprehensive.

Based on the below, the mandate applies to "public indoor activities". Nets practices are likely considered private affairs.

Really hoping for a Nets/Raptors playoff series, although a healthy Nets team probably doesn't need Kyrie to beat Toronto. But his absence would be a huge problem if the Nets were to meet the Warriors in the Finals.

EDIT: If I was mayor of Milwaukee or Chicago, or governor of California, it would be very tempting to pass a vaccine mandate similar to NYC's or San Francisco's.

Kind of guessing the new NYC Mayor will seek to give the Sports teams a carve out. I expect Kyrie will be able to play in Brooklyn by the time the playoffs arrive.

I think that's a different mandate that is older. The one I am talking about goes into effect on 12/27 and seems to cover ALL business workplaces, even those that are not public-facing.
https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/coronavirus/nyc-shares-new-guidelines-as-private-sector-vaccine-mandate-looms/3451573/
Here's from the FAQ:
2. How Do I Know if I'm Covered by the Order?
First, the order only applies to workplaces in New York City. Many different types of
businesses are covered by the order. Any non-governmental entity that employs more than one worker in New York City is covered. So is any non-governmental entity that maintains or operates a workplace in New York City.

A "workplace" is any place where work is performed in the presence of another worker, or a member of the public. Individuals who are self-employed or sole proprietors are not covered by the order unless they work at a workplace, interact with other workers in person or interact with the public in person while working.

Some examples of covered entities include clothing stores, grocery stores, taxicabs or rideshare owners-operators, speech therapists who conduct home visits and writers who rent desks in shared workspaces. The order does not apply to covered entities or individuals who are already subject to another Order of the Commissioner of the Department, Board of Health, the mayor, or a state or federal entity that requires them to maintain or provide proof of full vaccination. It does not apply to individuals who have been granted reasonable accommodation requests.

Covered entities or individuals who are subject to federal requirements
that are not currently in effect because of a court order must comply with this order.
That seems to cover sports teams.

You hate to laugh at someone getting a very serious disease, but that’s just hilarious. Sorry.

I'm sure he'll be fine so it's ok to laugh at him. Hopefully, he didn't expose anyone else.

It's also possible he doesn't actually have Covid.

Is he in protocol because of a positive test? Or is it due to the fact he wants to return but is unvaxxed, and so needs to clear a protocol of successive positive tests while remaining isolated? The tweet is not well worded.

Omicron is nuts. This is like when the pandemic first hit sports leagues. Haven’t seen this many positives in a long time.

While it’s hilarious to see Kyrie being activated and immediately entering COVID protocol, I do wish he could have waited until the playoffs.

You are correct that it’s nothing well worded but I assume that the team and Schefter would be very specific if it were the more benign explanation.

Here’s hoping the nets learned a lesson here and walk away from this stupid idea.
That doesn’t align with the logic which gave them the idea of playing him in the first place. They needed him because of COVID. Now he’s already had COVID, so…

He’s gonna play.

I wouldn‘t be surprised if they can’t be more specific.
I find it hard to believe that they can’t say someone is just following the standard protocol for a player who is re-entering the league. We’ve even been told this type of information before. That fact that no one is saying that (especially now that time has passed and people have been laughing at him) tells us what the answer is.

Now he has to go to the ends of the earth to try and find treatment.

With Durant also going into protocol, I assume this may be a contact tracing thing at this point.

Kyrie is the Exception to Every Rule.

He is literally the only person in professional sports whose contraction of Covd made me smile and laugh. If A-Rod was still active, I MIGHT have had the same reaction. But maybe not...Covid Sucks. Not as much as Kyrie, but it's not something to wish on others. Except this turd.

He is also the most talented player who will almost definitely make his team worse.

He is also an NBA Champion who is ultimately a major loser.

What a despicable, hateful human being he is. Watching him fuck things up somehow for the Nets will be enjoyable to see.

Did Kyrie text positive or was his entering Covid protocol less than 24 hours after being activated a procedural move to provide the requirement for multiple days of negative tests? I wouldn’t imagine an unvaccinated player can simply be activated and allowed to practice/play on Day One without going through the protocol based on the NBA’s literature on protocol.

So he is back and unvaccinated, is he really not going to play home games in the playoffs? I guess we’ll see.

A lot can, and likely will, change from now to May with a Covid and these mandates. I wouldn’t rule him out of home playoff games just yet.
