Should someone named Cash be on a team with a larger payroll?

But really, he's been in scouting for 1 year, in coaching for 2 (bullpen coach, too, not a bench coach). They couldn't get someone with more experience?

Francona must have pull in St. Pete or something.

From the time I got to spend around Kevin Cash when he was with the Red Sox, there was no doubt he was future manager material. Francona was a huge fan.

Well, Cash had more experience sitting on benches, so he may be a bit more comfortable than Matheny in his first season.

“@bradfo: Cash was being strongly considered to be Red Sox bench coach if Lovullo left earlier this offseason”

No, he was applying for the manager position. They ordered him a complete set of home whites and everything.
