Moving Kanter also opens a lot of possibilities in terms of staying out of the tax.

If Hayward goes out for someone in the 16-18M range (like Turner) we can still use the full MLE.
If we decide to stay in the tax, that TPE is a useful size.

Question for mcpickl or CD - does Kanter still count against the Celtics cap, even though he is now a Blazer, because he is still in the act of completing a close-out on an opposing shooter from a game back in August?

Enes is going to be bummed to find out that the only reason he had such a great run in Portland was because one of Nurk's lower extremities exploded and Stotts was forced to use Kanter out of desperation. That said, its actually a good move for both sides.

Güle güle Enes! You were fun to root for as a person and a swimmer. Not so much when the C's were suffering death by a thousand PnRs with you on the floor.

where I was last at
Enes was what he was-an O-board vaccuum cleaner and a pretty decent low-post scorer

He filled a void.

So he he got lost on PnR

he was a good person.

He will be remembered kindly when he returns to the parquet

I'll miss his offensive rebounding and his personality.

I'm going to miss the big lug and all those easy baskets on the offensive end.

Team is better at defense and speed now. Wished we signed Tillie as a UDFA or used the 47 on him, increasingly now.

Wonder what effect this will have on Tacko. I assume VP is also within the organization?

Wonder if we'll get a big from someone else now. I'd much rather have Sabonis than Turner, to be frank.

Poirier was traded yesterday. It's basically the law firm of Williams, Williams, Theis, and Tacko.

So would Indy, unfortunately. If the Celtics don't get Turner, I'm fairly certain they'll look to add another rotation big man, the group mentioned above won't cut it.

Actually even more complicated than that tweet....

The Memphis pick is just the pick. Here is the other pick:

2023 second round draft pick from Miami (swap, Dallas outgoing to Boston or Houston)
Dallas will receive the more favorable of its 2023 2nd round pick and Miami's 2023 2nd round pick; Boston will receive the more favorable of (i) Houston's 2023 2nd round pick protected for selections 31-32 and (ii) the less favorable of the Dallas pick and the Miami pick and Houston will receive the least favorable of the three (via Memphis' right to swap Dallas or Miami for Houston) (if the Houston pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyable, then Houston's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Dallas-Miami, 7/7/2017; Dallas-Memphis, 7/8/2019; Houston-Memphis, 2/6/2020; Boston-Memphis-Portland, 11/20/2020]

I really really enjoyed having him on the team. He was a lot of fun, and I absolutely loved watching him post up old style. Not a lot of guys in the league who can do that anymore.

Agree. He was really fun to root for and I’ll continue to be a fan of his regardless of which uniform he wears.

One of my favorite memories of this past season was when he was cleared to travel to Toronto for the Christmas Day game where he went on to have a good game with 12 points and 11 boards in 18 minutes in a 118-102 win.

And his op-eds have really won me over.

Kanter was like a throwback to the mid-90's Dino Radja: good low post scoring and rebounding and weak D
