What a weird trade. Flexen has already been DFA'd as part of it, Gott is like a billion years old (but has one more year of arbitration... so I guess that's what the Mets are going for here.. maybe?
Muckenhirn is a 28 year old career minor league reliever, who has had decent numbers in the minors, but is also, you know, 28. Seattle has a top 10 bullpen in the league, so I don't know what Muckenhirn really adds here.

I know where the Mets are in the standings, but if they're looking to be sellers after their off-season spending and hype, hoo-boy, Citi Field is going to be a rough place to be. I only see a couple FA-to-be that might be attractive rentals (Pham and Robertson). They've really painted themselves into a nasty corner.
Acuna seemed to hurt his right shoulder trying to get himself up at the end of a slide on a steal of second – extended it for support while he was still moving and then kind of collapsed on it. Looked to be in enough pain to leave the game but is staying in after a few minutes to move it around. Something to keep an eye on for the NL's frontrunner for MVP.

Trout said after the game he felt something in his wrist and is in a lot of pain. As of an hour ago he was getting x-rays but no news yet.
This could be a season-defining injury in all of MLB because of the likely domino effect at the trade deadline.

Trout is already 52nd alltime on the career bWAR list at 85.2 but this is probably going to make it a lot harder to get into the top 10 or 15 eventually. Even once guys come back from a hamate, it often takes at least a season to regain much power, hope he defies the odds.

Eh, it's not like they had a tiny payroll and stood pat, they just chose the wrong guys and also had a very tough time luring good pitchers until Ohtani. I feel more sorry for say, Joey Votto who never sniffed a WS on a team that never really broke the bank to surround him with talent.
I agree. The Angels have spent years trying to put a good team around Trout, but for whatever reason, they continue to fail. But they spend the money and that's half the battle, I suppose.

I just saw that as well. According to B-Ref during his years with the Reds he had a 105 ERA+. I will always love the guy for being on the 2004 team but this doesn't say a lot for the Reds during those years.
Oh that sucks. I hope it means Jake Scheiner gets called up though. He is killing it in AAA after a down year last year in Arkansas, and is one of the nicest people I have ever met.
That sucks, it's always fun seeing a teenager playing in MLB, so I was rooting for him going into Spring Training. He was absolutely dominant at every level last year.
Darn. I figured that's what was going to happen. Cade is great, too, but Jake has been working so long and finally seems to have broken out this year. I hope it isn't too late for him.
